I actually think there is a generation gap.. Have you noticed that the majority of players here on qhcf tend to be older than your average gamer? So do the imms. <br> <br>When I was a kid I read Lord of the rings, kids nowadays watch the movie. They don't want text based games, they want moving pictures. It takes a pretty exceptional gamer nowadays to want to read text scrolling by on their screen when they can get hooked on WoW or guildwars instead. I'm not saying that there are no new younger players, i'm not saying no kids read, or enjoy CF. I'm saying the market for this sort of game is decreasing. <br> <br>Advertising in a mainstream area IMO would be a waste of money purely because CF isn't accessible to your everyday person they'd see the advert and think 'this looks pretty awesome' log on get completely confused, or not see any graphics and log off permanently. It's a specialist game and requires specialist advertising. To be honest we should be trying to take competitors players rather than the average gamer, people who already MUD. That means advertising in places that are frequented by their playerbases and trying to improve our image vs. theirs. <br> <br>Also, lessening the initial learning curve would help since its such a complex game. Remembering back to my first character I got multikilled, full looted, killed by my own groupmates, assassinated in galadon market square (I was 14 at the time) but you have to be pretty determined to stick the game out long enough to 'play' it. I remember the return of the Empire and the massive gank squads I couldn't avoid because i was an idiot.. good times.
