Just a warning about these two forms to new people. I've played over twelve shapeshifters. Out of the many tier two defensive forms most are great. Hare, tortoise, sand lizard, bobcat, you can't go wrong with any of these.
The polar bear sucks. It can't heal, it can't defend enough to learn with a group (unless you have a healer). By this I mean you have to revert, slow and heal up after every two kills. The code lets it hit harder but that doesn't help.
The snow wolf is up against these other options: copperhead - wow healing and huge hits, boar - MAJOR hitting power, snow badger - great attacks with icy bite to get by physical resistance, etc. The snow wolf with full protections goes down very quickly against assassins four rank below you. Enough said.
I am not saying either form is useless. I am saying when compared to equal tier forms they completely blow. Its not only my opinion, its the opinion of all the shapeshifters I've met in the life of my character (deleted). I've grouped with them, fought with them, etc. I had to turn tail or die, while they fought on and dominated. Comparisons were equal in level to me fighting the same foes, with same shape focus. Add this to my experience with all these other forms.
I wonder if the Immortals every play shapeshifters to see the power difference. Completely frustrated. With two shape focuses I was hoping to get at least ONE good form. But having rolled snake eyes really ruined the game experience.
