How often do you use a shield prep as a non rager, non mage in pk? How often and do you use desensitize?
-Desensatize for any fight I think might be competitive. Not if I’m running in to trip down someone ranking, or someone weak on melee, but if I think they’ll fight back? Definitely. For shield, that’s much harder as all shields I know are limited. So usually for the fights where it’s an even match at best, or there’s a chance someone else will intervene. I’m not great at hoarding shield/aura preps, so I don’t use them terribly often.
Is there a way to redirect against an opponent who gets rescued out of combat and has autoassist turned off? I assume not when blind, but hit doesn't work when they aren't fighting you.
-You have to use a targeted attack. Whatever you have that’s lowest lag, use that.
Does assassinate only work if you are 100% full health? Is it frowned on to wear/remove a hp item to not be full health? I feel zero motivation to play against assassinate as I see zero skill here. I get that they have to stalk etc. However the counter to them is what, walk into the ocean? No matter how well I play, if I don't meta game against assassinate I'm dead sooner or later if I as I suspect, I do not stay wounded and staying wounded requires pseudo inappropriate play.
-Countering assassinate is not just about the ocean. Its about motion and unpredictability. When you’re doing something in an area and an assassin’s about, leave the area by an unpredictable means. Teleport, or use a less common exit. When you’re in a guild, same idea. If you need to spam practice, find somewhere really out of the way. Pay attention to the who pk – if you occasionally see them on it, you’re probably ok. If they disappear off whopk for a while, get paranoid. I haven’t been assassinated in a few years, sticking to these principals.
When fighting transmuters do you use resist mental preps? How do you avoid complete hold person? Not a ton of experience against the new transmuters, but my run ins have gone very poorly. I get six rounds of combat, they are gushing - I become frozen and die without getting another command input. Is it hit and run tactics, let them get you twice then flee until the debuff ends?
-save vs paralysis is your best friend here. Now, I never really gear for it unless a muter is in my range and they’ve killed me once. I also will carry the gear usually, not wear it all the time (which risks me getting blindsided). Find that gear, and anything that gives you swiftness. The rest of their spells are mostly on save vs spell.
Should a medium size person enlarge or reduce against bash giants? I guess you cant ask, what is the longest duration of one of these preps, the enlarge I am using lasts 3 hours. It typically takes me 2 rounds to buff and get the fight going.
-If you want to have the chance to run away if things go poorly, reduce. Make your size changing prep your last prep before the flight as most last around 4 hours. If you think you have an even shot, and you can bash too? Enlarge. He might over-commit. If that giant sees he can’t bash you, he may run.
