It's big for min-maxing edges, but I wouldn't make a point of it if I were trying to learn the game.

Help a newer player out with Observation/exploration exp?

Observation comes almost entirely from looking at named or unique monsters and containers that contain preps or keys. Exploration is from hidden rooms and 'boss' rooms, like the last room in a dragon lair.
