archer is great for tanking, even if you have to be out of the wilds some.

with archery you also get immolation, poison to whittle down. bait is decent for more defense.

marsh staff on a wood-elf is avg 33 and can plague/poison.

talismans and being neutral will allow you to easily add shield and aura for additional dam redux.

you can buy stone skin from udgaard and use bloodletting to reduce the plague and then herbs to heal it.

I played a plains animist...and the boost to herbs doesn't make up for the fact Plains is the weakest terrain choice. NT

Almost all the rangers I have played for exploration have been Marshdweller/Explorer, simply because I like having a plaguing staff, heh. (n/t)
