You can regard MT as sanctuary+haste. With stalks - you get additional STSF-like charges. If you have stalker's eye edge - you accumulate those faster.

P.S. There's also at least one more factor in play with regard to stalks, but it's pretty rare and not widely known yet so I won't reveal it here.

Edit: Oh and about tactics. The rule of thumb is "if you see that your enemy is in trance and you don't have gang behind you - GTFO ASAP".
