You hear people say crocodiles and alligators are the apex, the best hunters/suvivors this planet has seen through evolution. I think it was 2 others, Placoderms and cephalopods. If you don't know anything about them, and you're bored, look them up. Some placoderms were fucking HUGE. Basically they were big fish with thick hard skin and a beak like a hook-horror.
