This game has a steep learning curve. That much is immediately apparent. I'm playing through Mudslinger so I'm not going to be able to set up anything advanced for triggers and whatnot - which likely puts me a disadvantage PK-wise but I don't really care.
So accepting that, what can I do as a new player to get into this and enjoy the sweet science of the countless deaths i'm sure to experience?
This isn't my first mud, but it's only my second one truthfully - and I haven't played a MUD seriously in over ten years. I'm born again, I guess.
I'm staying away from the magic classes and religious ones for the time being as they look a) hard to solo with and b) have even harder requirements for advancement that I'm probably out of my element with.
I think the biggest things for me will be a) Where to find gear and prep stuff, b) how to re-gear quickly if (when) I get mowed down by vets and c) geography. (and a distant d) leveling and ranking but that comes with c)
Anything you can share as tips of the trade to a new player who wants to stick around and has ample time to play from work thanks to Mudslinger. Thanks!
