Well, I'm not saying polearm is best first choice ever, but I did it and managed to pretty well as my first spec. I'm pretty terrible with every facet of CF, but I did manage to do alright with this one in 05, when I sucked even more than I do now.

Just saying it is a viable choice and you can land kills with it. But yeah, I'd take dagger first, if anything failing skills wont hurt as much therefore making learning them easier... My theory anyway.
