Because the volume of chatter gets overwhelming for some that want to help newbies...

May 20, 2009 09:42PM
There's been many instances in the past few months where I've felt compelled to turn off newbie channel because it's turned into an accelerated version of qhcf or the official forums. Too many vets or experienced players either demanding to know the mechanics of skills/spells/etc followed by similar assholes pontificating about things being overpowered.

I see the newbie channel as a place where actual newbies can get immediate help so they can figure out how to survive and navigate in cf. Not so they can ask why the imms let ragers spellbane area spells when bloodthirsting. That's not a question that needs an immediate answer, and one that can be better answered on the forums.

I'd like to help newbies, but for me, I have a hard time keeping up with and separating the idiots on the newbie channel when I'm also dealing with listening to the idiots in my cabal and group talking.

I just like the day everyone on Newbie channel talked about 'DAAAAAAAAAW'. That's just me though. NT

Sam May 20, 2009 10:11PM

NEWBIES should ask questions, not vets/semi-vets. At least not those "advanced" ones. n/t

deriveh May 20, 2009 09:02PM

Why shouldn't vets ask a question, if they have one?

Because the volume of chatter gets overwhelming for some that want to help newbies...

shroomking May 20, 2009 09:42PM

Eh. I always keep the newbie channel up. And it's VERY rare that it actually gets "active" for more than a minute or so at a time. nt

Java May 20, 2009 09:51PM

I've turned it off (Forgot to turn it on again) since there was a CONSTANT spam for 45mins about stuff not even being "real" questions. I even prayed about it without any intervention... N/T

deriveh May 21, 2009 02:03AM

i usually don't mind being helpful, but i turned it off too. too much chatter. nt

Agree to disagree.

WarEagle May 20, 2009 09:08PM

If a question is valid, why does it matter who asks it?

Java May 20, 2009 09:20PM

Java, the spiritual leader of the QHCF says 'But today we will discuss the implications this has in a bit more detail. Can anyone offer some of their own insights?' ~
