The ac changes just changed which pieces of gear out there were better for it, and by and large I think it made the legacy better for your run of the mill char, ( a lot of super leet progging gear is non metal so that stuff isn't as useful to the legacy anymore).

The problem most people run into when playing gates is that they try to maximize it at the cost of str/dam/saves if you can find that happy medium that gets you into dam redux without making you fight like a wet noodle you can seriously kick ass.

as I have said before things that help you in this quest are using armor/stoneskin/ironskin/shield of words and not getting smacked with faerie fire/manacles/using berserk. You will notice that when you use these affects you won't get a message when gates triggers or un triggers but to figure out if your still golden just remove and re-wear a piece of gear, if you get the echo when you wear it again your doing great otherwise you might want to shuffle things around.


another general tip is to try and wear all gear that is considered armor, a lot of people tend to wear things that are not armor for wrist gear and neckware and also about body, finding gear that has ac values to fill these slots is pretty clutch.
