Because honestly, you sound very defensive, and this definitely appears to be clouding your sense of judgment (and reading).
And to your probable question in response, no, I'm not white.
Problems:
a. >>Now one could argue that the extraordinarily high rate among blacks is due to poverty, except that the rate among non-black Hispanics is so low. Both groups are over-represented among the poor.
That quote, if you read, has nothing to do with hatred or racism. Slavery has nothing to do with it either. Please explain how you come to the conclusion that these have to do with infant mortality rates. Yeah, they don't. I'm not saying he's right, because I don't know why they have higher infant mortality rates. My best guess, if it's not related to genetics, would be something about lack of reported infant mortality rates in hispanics due to whatever reason (illegal immigrant family members or otherwise), since I honestly think that poverty and diet (incl smoking and drinking) has a large part to do with infant mortality rates.
b. >>Studies have examined the extent to which income and education level can explain the disparity between blacks and whites, and have found that neither explains the disparity.
Look at the above. Still relates to infant mortality rates.
Now, I'm not going to argue with anything you said. I'm not going to bother with trying to discuss the issue of racism with someone who clearly isn't opened minded about it. But seriously, if you want to respond to Isildur's post, at least read what he wrote...?
