It sometimes helps not to think of it as chasing so literally

February 25, 2010 05:34AM
I try to work out what my target is headed for, and overtake them, spamming murder or whatever, in the hope that they've stacked directions and are going to run into me.

Often it's quite obvious where your target is going:

If it's a rager, you can bet your bottom dollar that they're making a line for the big D.
If they quaff when bleeding, they're probably going to the nearest healer.
Etc.

Use this knowledge to your advantage - cut your opponent off, or run to where you think he is and bash that fool down.

How do you chase?

It sometimes helps not to think of it as chasing so literally

NeverMindTheWarlocks February 25, 2010 05:34AM

This is real good advice. NT

Practice. (n/t)

Starscream February 25, 2010 04:59AM

Other posts offer good advice too, you can also use triggers for auto-movement where it is possible to do so, but you also need to take lag into account:

zoskia February 25, 2010 12:12AM

quiet movement and/or doubleback ftw. nt

Isildur(VIP) February 25, 2010 11:31AM

That is a direct VIOLATION OF CF RULES. Using triggers to chase (at all really) is forbidden. (n/t)

deriveh February 25, 2010 01:56AM

RULES and BOTTING do not say anything specific to this case. Also it is obvious that some people use them. Also read inside:

Gay

daurwyn(VIP) February 25, 2010 10:21AM

Wow cheap much? nt

AlphaQ February 25, 2010 07:49AM

Both triggers are a violation. In theory all triggers are. No? (n/t)

deriveh February 25, 2010 04:12AM

The community has universally condemned chase triggers for many years. Now I know why I'm suddenly dying to them all the time. nt

Splntrd February 25, 2010 02:53AM

What you say is not very probable

zoskia February 25, 2010 03:06AM

Seriously?

daurwyn(VIP) February 25, 2010 10:23AM

Question about Trigger Triggers.

Seilclavin February 25, 2010 06:10AM

I don't see why not, but this is technically abuse of game mechanics. nt

Splntrd February 25, 2010 06:52AM

People have done it before and not got smacked by the IMMs. Of course, if you're like Pro and think everytime you die the person is using chase triggers, you may get summoned to the RoTD. NT

Sam February 25, 2010 10:14AM

Could I maybe say I have Direction dyslexia in my role? (n/t)

Seilclavin February 25, 2010 09:20AM

Way more probable than you think.

PaulO February 25, 2010 03:41AM

Why not dirt kick instead of fleing? (n/t)

asthiss February 25, 2010 05:17AM

One day I am going to use a simple alias to screw these fags

NeverMindTheWarlocks February 25, 2010 04:34AM

"You are already fighting!"

Quixotic February 25, 2010 04:52AM

If they busted the trigger user at the same time, used slay on him and left you alone it's 100% worth it (n/t)

Scrimbul February 25, 2010 05:24AM

This is a tactics issue, he can do the same without a trigger using simple aliases and macros. Are we going to ban them too?

zoskia February 25, 2010 04:22AM

Aliases require direct user input - triggers do not. Big difference because of reaction time. nt

The Forsaken(VIP) February 25, 2010 08:02AM

I was exaggerating, but let's examine your claims.

Splntrd February 25, 2010 03:23AM

I agree with zoskia

vortexmagus February 25, 2010 04:57AM

Re: I was exaggerating, but let's examine your claims.

zoskia February 25, 2010 03:31AM

You're throwing a lot of chaff into the air and ignoring some very simple facts.

Splntrd February 25, 2010 03:51AM

I tried to explain how i see things in a very clear way. It is obvious to me that you made no effort to understand what i wrote/you are severely misinformed. If you think chase triggers are magic, go ahead and use them.

zoskia February 25, 2010 03:54AM

No I understood completely. I'm pointing out what you're choosing to ignore. Repeatedly. nt

Splntrd February 25, 2010 03:57AM

For shits and giggles I actually tried a chase trigger system out once

Mort February 25, 2010 03:48AM

I used an autoattack trigger with my previous char, it cost me a couple kills and i turned it off. I even posted the fight here. I do not use chase triggers however because they do not work well with the classes i like to play. (n/t)

zoskia February 25, 2010 03:50AM

How are your controls setup for directions?

Mek February 25, 2010 12:00AM

Meh. I'd like to pretend I suck because I use telnet, but that's probably not the reason.

Sam February 25, 2010 10:16AM

I hate telnet. I hate no being able to see what I type. DOMMOT, just download MUSHclient? n/t

Stevers February 25, 2010 12:00PM

Yeah, I just can't get used to using the numpad... Been trying...

deriveh February 25, 2010 02:00AM

Play ranger, use track (it's GREAT), also allows you to learn their habits and preps/wands/hide locations. Then you can really mess with them if you want to. (n/t)

zoskia February 24, 2010 11:38PM

Okay, here are some tips:

deriveh February 24, 2010 11:22PM

Thanks.
