Is there any more to hitroll than just mitigating melee misses?

I've always had a hunch that hitroll counts toward certain melee skills. Kans/Kot, serpentstrike, and the like. But I have little evidence toward this other than my own "gut feeling".

That said, if you look through logs of pvp fights (or simply highlight "misses" in your client) you'll notice that melee misses rarely happen. Has anyone intentionally tried to roll with a low hitroll and noticed any significant difference in melee? (talking like, <15 hitroll).

I'm actually getting curious thinking about it now-- does anybody have any concrete evidence pointing to any significant use for hitroll?

Hitroll

If 30-ish seems to be a pretty good target for hitroll, what is a good target for damroll other than just "as much as you can get"

5 more than you have at the moment. nt

It's like this:

I was under the impression hitroll also had an affect on the armor use skills...

I don't know about this. It MIGHT be so, but I thought that was specifically aim/precise aim/whatever. I thought hitroll just focused on preventing the miss. NT

Ever played an orc and had 54 damroll and 1 hitroll?

Same here, 20 seems to about do it. With 15 still getting some misses in there randomly. nt

Makes sense. I probably never notice because for some reason I usually play dexy characters with 30+ hitroll. *shrug* (n/t)

Hit roll is important enough for low-mid dexie charas to strive for at least 30.
