Exploring early

So, I saw Deavryn make a comment about how he never runs out of mvs because of exploring. This leads me to believe he explores quite a bit pre rank 15. Does anyone want to offer some advice on this? What do you consider the best areas to explore at an early rank to maximize obs and exp xp?
