Dual backstab question

Did it ever fire for you?

I took it at level 35, backstabbed a boatload of PCs and NPCs in the 70-80 hours it took me to get to level 49, and it didn't
fire even once (yes, I dual wielded daggers).

You had a different experience? Please share.
