If you look at some of my logs that I posted as Oringus there are two fights where I think it specifically gave me the advantage in killing someone or getting away.
Keep in mind -at least from my experience- that it will do nothing against non-melee attacks. So if you're fighting invokers it has basically no value, and you're still going to get hammered by a flurry, pincer, or drum as well. If there is a small bonus to "save" against those things (like they don't get a full monster flurry or drum off) I didn't notice it.
Furthermore, I opted to turn my wimpy down WAY low, so that I could benefit the most from the legacy. Probably got me killed a few more times than I would have liked. I'd be tanking like an absolute beast (Gates/Fires/Polearm) and outmeleeing them pretty soundly, and then flurry comes and I lose.
