The "stunning visual games" are just that, a bunch of showy graphics and effects with little to no variation in gameplay. The old games are still great because the game-producing community couldn't just fall back on a 30 second flash-profile of cinematic-quality fluff back then- games needed variation, imagination, and quality. The same holds true with CF and its level of demand for participation. Veterans who once departed for perceived sunnier climes are now returning. Why? Because CF is like that original D&D Group, the musty carpeted basement, playing on the pool table, Doritos and Mountain Dew in abundance, dice clacking, brotherhood at its intellectually stimulated finest. As we grow older, many of us move on and away, into careers, having families, and all the other meaningless distractions that rob us of the holy game. Yet even decades later, should we return, it only takes two or three to re-create that magic, to enjoy the best that gaming has to offer. So it is, even with a low-numbered CF, we step up the quality to contribute. At least, some of us certainly try.
Welcome back, and...
See you in the Fields.
HA!
