The spreadsheet is about 40 columns wide. However, if you know how to use Excel (though I actually use LibreOffice Calc -- free), it's as powerful as anything. You can split the screen to keep the headers or items names while you scroll. You can sort, filter, search, etc. It can handle preps.

I made the triggers for a mage but they should be just fine with Alduk. I'm going to roll a newbie to try the Academy. The fields I have are:
