Mage classes - I've played many mages and all without the ability of ABS (I'm a walking pk stat for somene) With the addition of the once per day shield type ability still a huge handicap. why not just give all classes the ability to have their form of damage reduction or have the wand location for each class something they can figure out by quests or be pointed toward by thier guildmaster at a level predetermined by the immortal staff.

Dam redux modification sounds like a good idea. Couldn't say since I don't play mages how to balance it out. However, I don't think a newbie even knows what ABS is for some while until they start browsing forums. Something could be done to simplify, sure, but I think that is a cart before the horse thing.

As a new player, I can attest to this. I came from a mud where all mages (except necro) and the cleric classes were given a spell that equals out to ABS (I think, since I'm still only vaguely sure of what ABS is beyond some damage reduction). To me, the spell that all the mage classes get such as "Weave of the Elements" equals out to the same thing and I would never even think of looking for ABS.
