At the same time, I feel a lot of IMMs that have religions make no effort whatsoever to "explain" or "preach" that religion.

It's usually left up to their OOC pals to roll a follower, post a few logs about living the religion, etc for the rest of the playerbase to understand the religion.

That being said, a lot of IMM-religions are really really straight forward. Only tattoo I ever got was Twist's...and he's the God of Magic. Another religion that was really straight forward was Thrak's for orcs, or those Ehren Guard folks.
