If you had been able to get a quaff command in after the flee you would have gotten away. Now, try and think how many times that thief has had people get away from him after he is lucky enough to have his binds actually LAND(try playing a binder thief some time if you want to torture yourself and rip all your hair out, often time binds just don't work or they fall off in the first round of combat).
