I'm not convinced that something other than bash wouldn't have been a better option. Eventually he boneshattered. That means he probably figured that if it made Cyruil drop his weapon, either 1) he'd stick around anyway or, 2) he'd die super-quick without it. So why not do that earlier? Or do some damage move like backhand? Or...I wonder how cranial would have worked? If you get the knockout you could try waiting until sanc dropped. And even if you didn't, it would probably lag as well as shield-spec-blocked-bash.
