Keep in mind I'm talking in the span of Venecfis and Kharnial, which constitutes a few months.
Did I die alot to ganks? Nope, not really. Not to be boastful, but I am better than most of the players in the game at getting away. I take calculated risks, and it just happens that I had forms that decreased the risks I would die.
However, it was wayyy past ridiculous at how much certains goodies of both Fortress and Outlanders (even some neutrals in the Outlanders) always hung out together. If I had a log of every single time, I could prove my point - but I don't log things that are common occurences.
If I was ever slept, I would rarely fight Fortress alone or outlander alone. I think it's way above coincidence that you guys 'happen' to be near each other.
As I said in my post, it has a lot to do with the power swing. That being said, there were rare instances, and rare characters, who wouldn't want to take advantage of ganks. Even more rare are those who even considered fighting alone. They would always try the same tactics over and over again and fail.
BTW, that makes me a much better player than those guys who ganked. I switched tactics quite often, from trapdoor spider, withering wand, camel, etc. based on circumstances. The gankers did not, which was a huge huge reason why I kicked their asses alot.
I cried with Venecfis. With Kharnial, I welcomed it, as it extended my enjoyment. I like challenges - obviously, you and some people do not. Not to mention I am QUITE aware of certain OOC connection - but hey, whatever floats their boat.
We did not? I'm not sure who you played, but I fought the entire fortlander horde way too much in order to think that you guys acted independently. And no, this goes far beyond simple raids and retrievals. I took alot into consideration. Even after everything I factored into the probability that the ganking was not completely intentional, it still came down to the following: Goodies in Fort and Outlander hugged each other so closely that their dicks probably entered each others asses.
Some may argue that goodies HAD to gank to have a chance to kill me. I don't think that's true. There were many times when I nearly died one on one. But a lot refused to expand their tactics. BTW, Mharr and Dhaath changed their tactics depending on what I used that I would even use barrier when fighting them one on one.
In the end, as I said before, I think the butthugging between various goodies (people that are exceptions that come to mind are Kernagor, Llondolis and Iltanthal) was enough to warrant calling them Fortlander. I don't only mean by typing 'group XXX'. If your groupmate is halfway across Thera and you're fighting me alone, I don't count that as a gank.
You and I may have differing opinions about what led to the various ganks and why they ganked as much. The fact remains that, both with Kharnial and Venecfis, I dealt with 3+ Fortlanders regularly. Not to mention that I have heard stories on my characters of other Scions/Non-Affiliate/Empires who had to deal with the same issue.
