Would you consider black economic empowerment to be an example of institutional racism? And in that situation would the 5 million or so Afrikaners qualify as a significant racial minority?
I agree there is not a policy but one cannot ignore the racial motivations or the brutality behind the murders simply because it also happened to various African tribes. Furthermore a lot of whites in SA believe Mandela was the only thing stopping more radical (and racist elements) in the ANC from further violence. Many have lived in fear of an urban legend called operation uhuru (http://mobile.wnd.com/2004/02/23169/). The same would likely argue that SA is not better off racially or economically since the fall of apartheid. I can't say as I've never been to (let alone lived in) SA. Have you?
I also agree the ANC is not overtly communist. With that being said do you not believe Mandela was a communist? It's my understanding that even the communist party in SA admits it now.
