If you learn spear, hand, and/or axe as one of your first weapons any ranger/assass/warrior/(i'm guessing goblin) can do well (and get crazy skill gains) at ugruks at about the level you can take two greater trolls, whatever level that might be.

PS: that should be "spear or axe, and hand"
