Sitting in a cabal that's got no leader and nobody to make someone a leader, and nobody else who's a goody app blows. Add that onto the fact that there's a rolling perma that's more than happy to multikill if they get the chance, and not let any semblance of fun enter the PK, and you've got a great recipe for #mike'sthefuckouttahere
Takin' a break until imms get their head out of their asses and realize that leaving things the way they are is *EXACTLY* the reason the playerbase keeps dropping. We're not a MUD that can afford assholes that steamroll people like this anymore. Back in the day it was fine, because there was still enough playerbase that you could always just gank the shit out of them right back. Now you have "anti-gank" code that just caters to two man PK squads, and a playerbase that's not big enough to be able to make them regret their ganging perma.
Imms/Imps- suck it up guys. The game isn't the way it used to be, it's not getting better. You can add as many new areas as you want, have imm quests, have nights of 100 player gimmicks, but the reality is that the game isn't fun enough to *keep people playing*. I keep hearing Imms say player retention is the problem, not the game or areas, or immteraction, etc. I hate to tell you this, but you can call the sky something other than blue all you want, but that won't change the fact that it's blue most days. If you want to *change* something like playerbase retention, then you have to actually change something about how the game appeals to them. I'm a long time player (13 years now) and play less and less because it's just not worth the investment when any random ass hole can ruin my day if they know the mechanics better than me, or they have a nifty perma.
I'd make suggestions that I think would improve this, but every single time someone makes suggestions like this they're met with a stoic "That doesn't need to change, that's how CF is supposed to be." I'm glad you like the way the game is, but you liking the way it is doesn't make it any more fun or worthwhile for players to stick around.
To Niji and Jarlduz - I'm glad you guys are having fun steamrolling - I really am - but you two piss in a lot of people's cheerios on a regular basis, and are never seen apart. (Or rarely). You two are single handedly the BIGGEST reason I do not enjoy playing right now. Your "fun" contributes to the lack of fun other people feel - not because you're doing anything wrong, but because you represent something that is impossible to surmount. Nobody likes to play a game that can't be beat.
Strienat - get off your ass and appoint a damn leader or induct some damn Wardens. If you're not going to be around, then appoint Mendos to do it. The quest you have going for the Warden's can't be done if there are no wardens - and if your playtimes don't mesh up, then suck it up and tell some other imm that's around they can do it if the person meets requirement xyz. Nobody wants to step on your toes, so get them out of the damn way.
