I didn't see it when it was new, but I remember friends who were really into it.

I'm sort of surprised they lasted the first season. It was like a bad Star Trek ripoff.

But after that, it got a lot better, both the acting and CGI. Bruce Boxleitner was the best thing that happened to it, I think. It's like he raised the acting bar universally. It ended up being a great series. Worth suffering through Sinclair's acting (which was like a 50's sci-fi hero).
