I'm not sure how underappreciated it is (I still catch myself quoting it 22 years later) but it's one of those films that never seemed to get replayed a thousand times a week on cable. Maybe more of a cult classic than underappreciated, esp. among "90s kids."

In the same genre, more or less, Hackers.

Also, Kids, but different genre.

Unless you hung out with a lot of stoners, Dazed and Confused is probably underappreciated.

Night of the Comet, my first zombie movie, was replayed a thousand times a week on cable, but still good.

Serenity, the Firefly movie, is underappreciated by pretty much everyone who didn't love Firefly, but it works very well on its own (or so the few people who've seen the movie but not the tv show tell me.)

Black Dynamite, but that's a bit more appropriately appricated thanks to youtube.

Joe Versus the Volcano. Tom Hanks, three different Meg Ryans, and a definitive statement on the value of quality luggage.

The Fifth Element and Leon. Appreciated enough for most, but Fifth Element is in my top five films of all time, Luc Besson is in the top five auteurs list, and for my money the two best "comedic" performances by Gary Oldman. Speaking of Oldman..

JFK. Up there with Malcolm X and Schindler's on the 3+ hour list.

Toy Soldiers is an awesome movie. (n/t)

Frosty February 10, 2014 01:32PM

The Castle. It's a comedy made in Ausrtalia, I think. If you like dry humor, this movie is a must.

Frosty February 09, 2014 06:20PM

Real Genius. I don't know if it's appreciated or not. I just know I've never meet anyone outside my family who's seen it. Everyone should own it imo. (n/t)

Frosty February 09, 2014 06:15PM

This, along with the Immortal "Rad" and Little Monsters are movies I watched religiously aged 7-11. NT

Sam February 14, 2014 05:29PM

I loved bmx before I saw rad, but after seeing it at like age 5 I became obsessed with them. I still have my old bikes. Dyno compe original, GT Pro Performer, SE racing PK Ripper, a hutch pro racer(which I gave to my cousin), and Redline 600c.

Try these....

bad-ivan February 09, 2014 04:40AM

I love old noir-ish gangster movies and Things is a classic. Miller's Crossing is another horrifically underrated movie in that vein.

Sam February 14, 2014 05:28PM

"Killing Flies." You'll thank me later. (n/t)

Matrik February 09, 2014 04:40AM

Big Trouble in Little China isn't underappreciated. Everyone recognizes it is stupidly hilarious. (n/t)

Srev February 09, 2014 05:15AM
