Re: Why want angry, cocky assholes who are eager to fight?

February 24, 2014 04:29PM
You want these kind of people because you want cannon fodder :D or Bio and chemical testers, or that one guy who's the biggest douche to go play in the mind field to test out for the group :D

Less than a month until I leave for bootcamp.

tesline February 24, 2014 06:14AM

Update. 21 days until I leave. Passed my 30 day IST.

tesline March 01, 2014 06:58PM

I can't wait until you are boot camp so I don't have to see your dumb posts (n/t)

Matrik March 01, 2014 11:11PM

You're gonna be nervous no matter what, you can't change it.

bloodmoon February 25, 2014 03:20AM

Yeah but the marines are so kewl. (n/t)

kanye February 25, 2014 04:49AM

I'm glad I can tell you're being sarcastic.

bloodmoon February 25, 2014 06:04AM

My point was that as non-officer or combat arms. Why choose the marines? They have the lowest budget, worst technology, etc, etc. Not to mention you can't choose your MOS pre-basic like the army. (n/t)

kanye February 25, 2014 05:32PM

Really? I thought Marines were the elite of armed forces.

Murphy February 26, 2014 03:45AM

Compared to the other branches they appear elite. Pic related.

tesline February 26, 2014 07:16AM

Wow, I knew that a stereotypical American is fat, but... this... (n/t)

Murphy February 26, 2014 05:39PM

Most of America isn't fat btw. It's like saying every russian drinks vodka and is a communist. (n/t)

tesline February 26, 2014 05:44PM

I didn't say most, I said stereotypical. (n/t)

Murphy February 27, 2014 04:54AM

But, every Russian is a communist, and drinks Vodka. (n/t)

bloodmoon February 27, 2014 02:58AM

And doesn't speak English. (n/t)

Murphy February 27, 2014 03:37AM

Thanks for the assist, Non-English speaking Russian dude.

bloodmoon February 27, 2014 04:42AM

No probs tovarisch.

Murphy February 27, 2014 04:53AM

My heart, my life, my soul for the Kremlin? (n/t)

bloodmoon February 27, 2014 04:58AM

Most of America isn't fat?

wrathpuppet February 26, 2014 07:05PM

That raises a few questions. Do they take muscle into the equation? I doubt it. (n/t)

tesline February 26, 2014 07:10PM

I was just talking about this today.

wrathpuppet February 26, 2014 07:18PM

That makes me borderline overweight. I'm 173 right now and 5 foot 11. I'm about 5 pounds off from being overweight.

tesline February 26, 2014 07:25PM

Re: Bodyfat.

wrathpuppet February 27, 2014 06:45AM

Most people do estimate their bodyfat incorrectly.

Srev February 28, 2014 09:41AM

No body fat is 0% fat.

DurNominator(VIP) March 05, 2014 08:35PM

Rule 14. (n/t)

tesline February 28, 2014 04:23PM

It is kinda sad that we have this huge thread dedicated solely to your induction in [MARINE]. At least tell us if the powers are any good. (n/t)

Murphy February 26, 2014 07:56PM

Well I'm only a [POOLE] which is like a Squire or a pledge.

tesline February 26, 2014 09:22PM

Not really.

Matrik February 26, 2014 04:09AM

We're suppose to be, usually to be, and probably will be.

bloodmoon February 26, 2014 03:51AM

Wish I had this advice 4 years ago. (n/t)

bloodmoon February 26, 2014 03:35AM

The reason is weapons don't win wars people do.

tesline February 25, 2014 07:15PM

Tell that to the Native Americans. And Japanese.

PaulO February 26, 2014 12:54PM

Just noticed your subject line. FYI, that is terribly false.

Matrik February 26, 2014 08:50AM

Fellujah wasn't a blunder, but many deaths could've been avoided with better equipment. (n/t)

bloodmoon February 26, 2014 09:16AM

Here is a decent article about it:

Matrik February 26, 2014 10:05AM

Another

Matrik February 26, 2014 10:09AM

Um.. What?

sevriis February 26, 2014 09:19AM

Ok. Thanks for your input hippy. Now go away and let the men talk. (n/t)

Matrik February 26, 2014 09:43AM

While I'm certain you are male, I doubt you (or anyone here) are men. (n/t)

sevriis February 26, 2014 10:33AM

Can I take this as willful engagement in a sexist troll fest?

Matrik February 26, 2014 10:49AM

It's fun isn't it? (n/t)

sevriis February 26, 2014 11:48AM

It would be more fun if you would fight back sometimes. (n/t)

Matrik February 26, 2014 12:14PM

Here's a word I'm sure you're used to ignoring: No. (n/t)

sevriis February 26, 2014 12:34PM

Typical. No guts. (n/t)

Matrik February 26, 2014 12:48PM

HE SAID YOU HAVE NO NIPPLES! (n/t)

bloodmoon February 26, 2014 12:50PM

Useless walking hormones. Don't you have a country to invade or something? (n/t)

sevriis February 26, 2014 12:59PM

Yeah, it's called your mouth. (n/t)

bloodmoon February 26, 2014 02:32PM

Dude, if you're not combat arms(infantry, combat engineer, etc) you will get the same basic weapons training as every other normal soldier/marine (m16/maybe an m4 if you are lucky but I doubt) familiarized with grenandes, at4, M2, MK19, and thats it bro.

kanye February 25, 2014 07:51PM

AFAIK, every branch has basic physical fitness and weapons training. Do you think it is hard to operate weapons? (n/t)

Matrik February 25, 2014 07:24PM

Tell this to the marine corps, everytime you go to the range, a week of classes on how to use the m16. (n/t)

bloodmoon February 26, 2014 03:31AM

Oh man, I'd die if they made me take a class every time I went to the range on how to fire my own weapon. (n/t)

Matrik February 26, 2014 04:06AM

Honestly in the next 20-30 years soldiers will become significantly less relevant as combat resources as drones progress

Quas February 25, 2014 07:18PM

All I want is to fuck asian women, learn to kill someone if the need/urge arises, and free college. (n/t)

tesline February 25, 2014 07:36AM

Thought you said you were gay.

Murphy February 25, 2014 09:01PM

I'm bisexual which isn't the same as gay. (The key difference is I like women too.) (n/t)

tesline February 25, 2014 09:03PM

Did Ian do this to you? (n/t)

bloodmoon February 26, 2014 06:14AM

Eww no. I knew I was bi since I was 14. Ian was disgusting as fuck. (n/t)

tesline February 26, 2014 06:21AM

I would keep that fact to myself initially at basic. (n/t)

kanye February 26, 2014 03:49AM

Blanket party? (n/t)

bloodmoon February 26, 2014 03:55AM

Actually if that were to happen recruits would be discharged. If it was based on sexual orientation. One of our staff sgt said faggot in front of one of the openly gay (I am not openly BI) and he got screamed at by the Gunny for almost an hour.

tesline February 26, 2014 05:28AM

Reminds me of an old joke.

Murphy February 26, 2014 06:11AM

Gay, I came up in the marine corps on shit talking and getting the shit beat out of me.

bloodmoon February 26, 2014 05:46AM

Well you can still get the shit beat out of you for sucking in bootcamp. It just can't be because you are gay.

tesline February 26, 2014 05:49AM

Nobody is going to say Hey we beat Tesline's ass because he is a huge faggot. They will knock you around and say it was for another reason. It's pretty funny hearing the lies your recruiter is telling you. (n/t)

kanye February 26, 2014 05:31PM

Again reading comprehension. I'm not open about it.

tesline February 26, 2014 05:41PM

Dude

bloodmoon February 27, 2014 04:54AM

I plan to kick their ass but they deserve to be discharged. The military isn't a place for cowards and people are willing to attack their own allies over small differences. (n/t)

tesline February 27, 2014 04:59AM

You're so naive.

bloodmoon February 27, 2014 05:42AM

I'm not talking about a 1v1 fight. I'm talking about a group of pussies attacking one person for being gay.

tesline February 27, 2014 05:47AM

And the point I'm making is deal with it at your level.

bloodmoon February 27, 2014 06:00AM

Listen to what you are saying. I know you are smarter than this.

tesline February 27, 2014 06:07AM

Fighting them is your only option? (n/t)

bloodmoon February 27, 2014 06:21AM

Fighting them is his best option.

wrathpuppet February 27, 2014 06:52AM

All this politically correct shit pisses me off. Fucking liberals. (n/t)

bloodmoon February 26, 2014 05:51AM

Yes how dare they demand that tax payers money doesn't go to alienating a specific group of people. Next thing they will do is require women to actually be held to the same standards as men..those fiends. (n/t)

tesline February 26, 2014 05:57AM

Tax payers money? Let me lay this down for you.

bloodmoon February 26, 2014 06:05AM

There is a difference between a group of people beating the shit out of someone for their sexual orientation and a 1v1 fight. The issue isn't a 1v1 thing but having the Marine Corps seem or worse actually trying to exclude gays. (n/t)

tesline February 26, 2014 06:13AM

I'm on the issue of GySgy fuckface screaming at SSgt smuckatelli for saying faggot.

bloodmoon February 26, 2014 06:16AM

We had just gotten done being told by that staff sgt and the gunny to not say faggot and he called one of the other staff sgts a faggot not even 10 mins later.

tesline February 26, 2014 06:20AM

Bisexual woman = hot. Bisexual man = gay. No argument. (n/t)

Doof February 26, 2014 01:27AM

1,000,000 cosigns. nt

Sam March 05, 2014 08:25PM

If you are "straight" and think a bisexual man is hot...you wouldn't be straight. (n/t)

tesline February 26, 2014 05:31AM

My point exactly. Neither would you be "bi". You would be the gay. (n/t)

Doof February 27, 2014 01:03AM

That didn't add to your point at all. All it would mean is you aren't straight. You could be bi or gay.

tesline February 27, 2014 03:25AM

He's invoking a dichotomy. If you aren't straight, you're gay. Try inserting 'queer' here instead of gay. (n/t)

Elystan February 27, 2014 04:09AM

Under the same logic I could say I am straight.

tesline February 27, 2014 04:16AM

Then you misunderstand the logic. Straight = straight. All else = gay. Any deviation from straight = gay. You = gay.

Doof February 27, 2014 11:46PM

Depends what sense you mean it in. To most people anything not straight is gay (n/t)

Elystan February 27, 2014 04:24AM

To some people the earth was created 400 years ago, Obama is a muslim terrorist, and gravity is an illusion. Point being 25%-40% of the world's population is stupid. Incredibly and irredeemably stupid.

tesline February 27, 2014 04:27AM

Why are you so invested in not being labelled gay? What about queer?

Elystan February 27, 2014 05:06AM

"Why should someone not particularly interested or invested use your preferred terminology?"

wrathpuppet February 27, 2014 06:48AM

To his face, sure. Behind his back people are going to use the words that they think in (n/t)

Elystan February 27, 2014 07:09AM

Of course.

wrathpuppet February 27, 2014 07:43AM

In the part of America I live in the LGBT group is accepted and at the worst it is tolerated.

tesline February 27, 2014 05:15AM

Yeah but it's the Internets over here. The Internets are not tolerant. Nobody gets their shit respected on the Internets. (n/t)

Murphy February 27, 2014 05:48AM

If I posted pictures of my poop, you would definitely respect my shit. (n/t)

Matrik February 27, 2014 07:47AM

Preach the word good brother Matrik. nt

Sam March 05, 2014 08:27PM

Oh brother Thurm, why not grace our ears with a ripping tale of the old days, always a delight.... (n/t)

Matrik March 06, 2014 04:16AM

Non-English speaking Russian dude wins again. (n/t)

bloodmoon February 27, 2014 06:02AM

Fucking otaku (n/t)

Srev February 25, 2014 10:59AM

Ewwww asian chicks

HairyOrangutan February 25, 2014 08:39AM

Being a marine won't help you with the first, the second is easily done without signing years away, but it will help with the third at least. (n/t)

Matrik February 25, 2014 08:16AM

Going to and living in Japan is expensive especially when you don't have any marketable skills yet, other ways won;t allow to be payed for it, and I need time/a way to figure out what I want to do in college. (n/t)

tesline February 25, 2014 08:21AM

My buddy joined the Air Force and did a bunch of girls in japan

Quas February 25, 2014 08:10AM

Dopple post (n/t)

tesline February 25, 2014 08:17AM

Why are they after him (out to get him/child support ,<-if this he is a dirtbag) or does he not know how to handle his shit? (n/t)

tesline February 25, 2014 08:17AM

Yep. It's like everything else. Great potential, but humans ruin it. (n/t)

Matrik February 25, 2014 06:21AM

901% true. (n/t)

bloodmoon February 25, 2014 06:48AM

Do your family a favor and dig your hole before you leave.

Doof February 25, 2014 12:25AM

I have nothing to do with the military, but I have lots of friends that do. They all made it, and some are big crybabies. Don't be nervous about boot camp. You can do it little buddy :) (n/t)

Frosty February 24, 2014 07:20AM

I'm not too nervous about not making it. My cousin bloodmood made it so there is no way I won't. I'm nervous about being away from my family for 4 years as I want to be sent to oki. (n/t)

tesline February 24, 2014 07:24AM

You'd only spend 2 years on oki after you schooling, then come back to the states to finish up. (n/t)

bloodmoon February 25, 2014 02:58AM

He basically said you're a pussy and if you could do it he sure can. (n/t)

kanye February 25, 2014 05:33PM

That is one way to take it or I could of been saying since another family member did it there is no way I would let myself fail. (n/t)

tesline February 25, 2014 05:49PM

So you ARE nervous about making it. Being away from everyone else is part of "it." Like I said, I know some softies that could handle it all. It's not easy, but nothing good worth working for is. (n/t)

Frosty February 24, 2014 08:44AM

Re: I'm not too nervous about not making it. My cousin bloodmood made it so there is no way I won't. I'm nervous about being away from my family for 4 years as I want to be sent to oki.

Srev February 24, 2014 07:39AM

Don't be nervous about boot camp. Be nervous about combat. Of course, that is what boot camp is for though. Good luck. NT

Sam February 24, 2014 06:35AM

Despite what people say about bootcamp having a "straightening out" effect on people

Srev February 24, 2014 06:18AM

I try to avoid blanket statements as they are normally only involve a thread of truth.

tesline February 24, 2014 06:35AM

Out of curiosity, why do you think the recruiters have to tell people not to become arrogant in the first place? (n/t)

Srev February 24, 2014 07:09AM

For the obvious. Arrogant people make the Marine Corp look bad. The goal of the recruiters are to make the Marine Corp look good to others so they will join. (n/t)

tesline February 24, 2014 07:11AM

I think that's completely wrong

Rade February 24, 2014 07:14PM

That doesn't seem so obvious to me. Explicitly stating "don't act arrogant" to a prospective enlistee/officer could indicate that arrogance is a problem within the Marine Corps. (n/t)

Srev February 24, 2014 07:19AM

It's inherent to most all fucking boots of any branch.

qurdind February 24, 2014 07:53AM

Anyone with a gun and a license to kill automatically thinks themselves pretty tough.

Jerrokrar February 24, 2014 08:21PM

You are wrong about the ASVAB thing. It is 35 or 50 I can't remember as it was a non-issue for me.

tesline February 25, 2014 01:35AM

You aren't even taking into account scores necessary for certain MOS's.

bloodmoon February 25, 2014 03:10AM

Again I wouldn't know since I qualified for every job. (n/t)

tesline February 25, 2014 06:44PM

You think you qualify for EOD? (n/t)

bloodmoon February 25, 2014 07:23PM

With ASVAB scores? Yes. The other things maybe not. (n/t)

tesline February 25, 2014 08:30PM

Good answer. Glad you thought about it and didn't just say yes.

bloodmoon February 26, 2014 03:28AM

High requirements or no, EOD did the dumbest thing I ever saw in the military.

Matrik February 26, 2014 04:15AM

We actually just had four EOD guys die in a training exercise a month or two back. (n/t)

bloodmoon February 26, 2014 05:53AM

Training deaths are always a shame. (n/t)

Matrik February 26, 2014 08:25AM

So I can't be EOD with a gt of 12? (n/t)

kanye February 25, 2014 05:34PM

If your gt score is 12, you have bigger issues than trying EOD.

bloodmoon February 25, 2014 06:44PM

I know back when I enlisted the lowest required mos score was for Combat Engineers. I think it was like 29 or something whereas infantry was mid 30s (n/t)

kanye February 25, 2014 07:54PM

For the overall ASVAB, although the lowest is 36 now, your GT score would be higher.

bloodmoon February 26, 2014 03:25AM

I'll see if I can dig up my original enlistment papers and see what my asvab/gt score was (n/t)

kanye February 26, 2014 10:51AM

5 - there, I saved you the time! ;) hehe. (n/t)

Nurok February 26, 2014 11:05AM

BaM! (n/t)

tesline February 26, 2014 05:23AM

Why want angry, cocky assholes who are eager to fight?

Srev February 24, 2014 08:04AM

Always unquestioning is a terrible trait to have in a soldier. If low-grade officers at the platoon/company level always made perfect decision then yes, never question. Unfortuantely 2nd/1st LTs have some of the worst idea known to man. (n/t)

kanye February 25, 2014 04:53AM

Re: Why want angry, cocky assholes who are eager to fight?

BlkDrgn February 24, 2014 04:29PM

Re: Why want angry, cocky assholes who are eager to fight?

qurdind February 24, 2014 08:18AM

They said it to specific people. Not everyone was told that. There was me and another person that was told this. I have a big ego. No idea how it came about but hey I'm awesome what can I do? (n/t)

tesline February 24, 2014 07:20AM

You can go through boot camp and leave a douche who now has more self entitlement.

Srev February 24, 2014 07:40AM

True story. (n/t)

Frosty February 24, 2014 08:47AM

This is what pisses me off.

qurdind February 24, 2014 07:56AM

+1

bloodmoon February 25, 2014 03:14AM

Be glad, it isn't all that. (n/t)

NbM(VIP) February 25, 2014 03:37AM

I know, I just wanted that experience, good or bad, so I could say I did it.

bloodmoon February 25, 2014 06:02AM

What is your MOS? (n/t)

kanye February 25, 2014 05:35PM

1142, generator mechanic (technically engineer equipment electrical systems technician). (n/t)

bloodmoon February 25, 2014 07:21PM

I'll cosign this. You weren't drafted. You volunteered for a job, and had a damn good idea what it entailed. Nobody commends me on a daily basis on TV for being a damn good pilot and fishing guide. n/t (n/t)

rathamon February 24, 2014 07:27PM

Re: This is what pisses me off.

NbM(VIP) February 24, 2014 08:55AM

I live in a town with 4 major military bases, so I guess I see a lot of it in the military. But I agree. (n/t)

qurdind February 24, 2014 12:24PM

This. People feel the world owes them something. They don't realize it doesn't and every little thing you get you should be tearing from the world yourself.

tesline February 24, 2014 09:06AM

I agree with most of this.
