Any Python coders here?

starbright September 26, 2014 07:03AM

Depends on what you want to do with it.

Lots of misconceptions here

Re: Lots of misconceptions here

Stevers September 28, 2014 08:51AM

C++, C# and so on are terrible for beginners and most average programmers

zoskia September 28, 2014 02:53AM

If the computation is heavy, you're going to want speed.

DurNominator(VIP) September 28, 2014 11:37AM

C runs very quickly, so it's hard to shrug off as you do here. Also, being "compiled to bytecode" is not the same as being a compiled language.

Stevers September 28, 2014 06:17AM

Compilation is compilation, I was correcting your statements

zoskia September 28, 2014 07:46AM

Many computer scientists can't even agree on what "compilation" means. Though you'd be the first person that I'm aware of to argue that Python is a "compiled language" rather than an "interpreted langage"

Stevers September 28, 2014 08:42AM

There is no such thing as a "compiled language", you are very confused

zoskia September 28, 2014 08:55AM

No, I'm not confused, but I will help you not be confused.

Stevers September 28, 2014 09:27AM

Re: No, I'm not confused, but I will help you not be confused.

Isildur(VIP) September 29, 2014 12:29PM

That's comedy.

Matrik September 29, 2014 01:15PM

I can't help it if the forum software is ass. :) nt

Isildur(VIP) September 30, 2014 05:09AM

Don't confuse knowing html with knowing programming :) n/t

Stevers September 29, 2014 07:41PM

It used to work that way.

DurNominator(VIP) September 29, 2014 01:52PM

Well, Dur, TAG YOU'RE IT.

Matrik September 29, 2014 01:53PM

Still very confused, maybe the Joe Pesci approach will work for you

zoskia September 28, 2014 09:44AM

I sincerely wish you would use this as an opportunity to learn, rather than an opportunity to express willful ignorance. n/t

Stevers September 28, 2014 12:36PM

I was hoping you would expand on some of the semantical issues, it was interesting.

Also, Rob, no need to hide. Invisible unicode is so last decade ;-) (n/t)

zoskia September 28, 2014 10:34AM

see below (n/t)

zoskia September 28, 2014 10:20AM

I've expanded as much as boredom and time will allow

zoskia September 28, 2014 10:20AM

You're not going to win an argument...

Matrik September 28, 2014 10:29AM

Hard to take someone seriously who thinks C/C++ is 'brain damaged'.

Death_Claw September 28, 2014 03:31AM

What's funny is that the main implementation of Python is written in C

Stevers September 28, 2014 06:19AM

Agreed...and don't get me wrong, multi-threading isn't the be-all of every solution...

Death_Claw September 28, 2014 03:47PM

Read what I wrote again, I'm being very careful with what I write

zoskia September 28, 2014 07:50AM

You assume too much.

Stevers September 28, 2014 09:35AM

*yawn* (n/t)

zoskia September 28, 2014 04:36AM

Thanks all

starbright September 27, 2014 12:58PM

Python is a lot like reverse-fight club.

Stevers September 27, 2014 01:27PM

I don't like MATLAB much anymore

(vಠ_ಠ)> AngryFatKid September 27, 2014 02:50PM

People tend to prefer to program in the languages they know best.

Stevers September 27, 2014 04:01PM

If you think Python would be useful, then just try and solve issues at work with Python and see whether or not you like it.

Stevers September 26, 2014 07:41PM

Agree with Stevers on this.

Death_Claw September 27, 2014 09:52AM

I got your python right here. Ba da boom. txt

Isildur(VIP) September 26, 2014 07:02PM

From a technical standpoint, ruby is a lot better than python

zoskia September 26, 2014 08:24PM

Re: From a technical standpoint, ruby is a lot better than python

Isildur(VIP) September 29, 2014 05:18AM

Don't look too much in to what zoskia considers a "technical standpoint", because I've determined he's somewhat clueless about these topics in general.

Stevers September 29, 2014 06:07AM

Semi-off-topic - it's interesting...

Death_Claw September 29, 2014 09:58AM

Isildur(VIP) September 29, 2014 07:11AM

What's your primary focus these days? (n/t)

Matrik September 29, 2014 08:11AM

android apps. txt

Isildur(VIP) September 29, 2014 10:59AM

I was wondering why Ruby not having a good IDE bothered you. Now I know why: You develop android apps.

Stevers September 29, 2014 12:24PM

Right on. Thanks for info. (n/t)

Matrik September 29, 2014 11:54AM

DevOps is pretty cool. Real DevOps at least...and lucrative. n/t

Cyber Security is where it's at yo. (n/t)

Re: Cyber Security is where it's at yo.

Isildur(VIP) September 30, 2014 05:14AM

Honestly the software "exploit" side is probably only 30% of info security.

Death_Claw October 02, 2014 10:06AM

Ouch, that's going to bite them in the ass. (n/t)

NbM(VIP) September 30, 2014 06:02AM

Not like you know anything about cyber security beyond how to take a multiple choice certification exam n/t

Stevers September 29, 2014 12:37PM

Says the wanna-be coder.

NbM(VIP) September 29, 2014 04:06PM

LOL you couldn't even prevent a well known and well documented exploit of the Phorum software, and QHCF got taken over. Aren't you supposed to be the security VIP? n/t

Stevers September 29, 2014 07:22PM

Good

NbM(VIP) September 30, 2014 03:50AM

That's odd, I don't know a single programmer who hates their life. The real cybersecurity guys I know are also programmers, so I do not know why you aren't n/t

Stevers September 30, 2014 07:21AM

Awwww, aren't you cute! (n/t)

NbM(VIP) September 30, 2014 07:52AM

Out of curiosity, what do you do in the cyber security industry? Get coffee for the people doing the real work?

Stevers September 30, 2014 11:03AM

Re: Out of curiosity, what do you do in the cyber security industry? Get coffee for the people doing the real work?

NbM(VIP) September 30, 2014 11:11AM

There's nothing unreasonable about asking you what it is you do. n/t

Stevers September 30, 2014 11:14AM

Only when tracking an incident

NbM(VIP) September 30, 2014 11:28AM

Nope. Gabe is that guy.

DurNominator(VIP) September 29, 2014 08:35PM

Nothing wrong with faking the closure. (n/t)

Matrik September 26, 2014 08:25PM

Did you mean Perl and Ruby?

Stevers September 26, 2014 07:45PM

Re: Did you mean Perl and Ruby?

Isildur(VIP) September 29, 2014 05:14AM

You may consider it "cannabalized" because Perl and Ruby weren't initially developed with web development, specifically, in mind.

Which imm am I? nt

Isildur(VIP) September 29, 2014 05:12AM

zoskia September 26, 2014 08:49AM

Thanks for the advice

starbright September 26, 2014 09:58AM

I wish I were legally allowed help but the last python I coded ate many local pets. (n/t)
