My comments/your comments, in order (w/ commentary):
"...shame Mendes gassed".
It was a shame. I was greedy and wanted another 5 round war :)
---Doesn't matter your gas tank or your wrestling ability. If you stand still in front of McGregor you're going to regret it when you wake up.---
That's literally a hype-man line. Also...Mendes didn't go to sleep, just turtled.
"Mendes was dominating until he gassed. Falling for the hype machine...."
Mendes, again, arguably won the first 9:15 of the fight. No one is really disputing that, I don't think. Hype machine comment was making a (albeit weak) joke at your post.
---I'm sure those pin point accurate body shots had nothing to do with his gassing either right? You're falling for the hate machine.---
Actually I thought Conor was REALLY smart to attack the body early and often. Chad honestly looked gassed after 2 minutes. Hate machine I assume is a dig at me but I don't hate Conor, just some of the antics he has used to sell a fight.
"You're a fanboy lol. If there ever was a graceful loser, it was Mendes, who didn’t quite seem to take the fight as a loss. “I felt like I was winning the fight,” he explained. “I felt like I won the first and the second and was controlling the fight, but I just kind of gassed out there at the end. … I was just felt flat-footed and couldn’t move my feet. He took advantage.”
Fanboy was again me joshing with ya...good-naturedly. The body of the post is a quote from Chad after the fight re: my original point about gassing.
Now...it needs to be said that again, Conor is the interim titlist. Aldo is the lineal/"full" champion. Do I want to see that fight? FUCK YES. Do I think Aldo will win, I don't know. Were I to bet the fight I'd probably bet Aldo but that's just smart betting at the moment.
Final thought: If you don't think it's absurd a human being has to say something like this to sell a fight...well, I don't know what to say.
"I own this town," McGregor declared, leaning back and plopping his shoes onto the dais. "I own Rio de Janeiro. I'm sitting up here with my feet on the desk. What's anyone up there going to do about it? Not one of yous are going to do anything about it. My name, the McGregor name, my family's motto ... means royal is in my blood. That goes way back. So for [Aldo] to say he is the king and I am the joker, if this was a different time, I would invade his favela on horseback and kill anyone that was not fit to work."
