I've read a couple of his books. He's smart, some of his ideas are brilliant, his geopolitical ideas may and are applied in practice. Taking that into account, he's too focused inside the marine/land theory and I'd say he's gone a bit crazy with religious issues unfortunately. So in summary I'd judge him overall positively, though I tend to dismiss a lot of his abysmal comments about holy shit and americans being devils.
