You have to call M$ and get a key to put in. Tell them you swapped motherboards or something. If you have an OEM license, that would get you around that. Unfortunately, the same thing will probably happen if you try to boot into windows instead of running it through the VM. Tac's advice: Find someone with a corporate IT job and have them give you a volume key.

What's an OEM license?

ekirhal January 23, 2008 12:34PM

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer

Rade January 23, 2008 03:33PM

So I have to call M$, not Dell?

ekirhal January 23, 2008 03:44PM

Well, if they're in a good mood, then yes they'll give you one

Rade January 27, 2008 06:27AM

OEM Windows.

Did you previously use that license?
