I think a rational person would concede that both parties suck and the American people are idiots.

Being happy about McCain or Obama is pointless. There are a couple thousand additional people who determine policies that directly affect you - a significant amount of which you'll have no say about. The whole thing is a farce predicated on the notion that the voting populace - because they have the option to vote - will understand and choose what is in their best interests and vote accordingly. Reality is half of them don't even understand whats in their best interests much less vote that way. Instead you have the pundits talking about whether or not they have "family values" or some other vague and meaningless bullshit.

Even if you're 100% aligned with Democrats or Republicans the politicians themselves rarely if ever accomplish even 5% of what they claim they're going to accomplish during their tenure. The largest most broad sweeping policy decisions are typically not even mentioned during election season. Instead - we sit around talking about shit that is unlikely to ever change because all of the solutions are not "politically viable" - ie no one has the balls to do it in spite of whether its rational or not. Politicians will enact policies that are obviously flawed and problematic if they can be wrapped in a pretty bow and sound appealing to the dipshit, mouth breathing masses (economic stimulus package anyone?).

I'm not going to bust a nut about choosing between a douchebag and a worse douchebag.

An interesting/amusing-yet-real tale of Republican backtracking re: divisive comments like "liberals hate real Americans"

It's not just republicans my friend. But yes, this is the reason I think all politicians should be murdered.
