Sheesh it's fairly simple

December 04, 2008 07:48PM
I mean, I don't go into your house and paint your walls just because:
a) I am good at painting, or
b) I think it looks nice on your house

I reckon you'll pull out a shotgun and blow my head off.

So stick to your OWN canvas. If you keep that respect for someboy, we won't have any problems anymore, right? But paint at SOMEONE else's expense without permission is vandalism. How hard can this be?

PS. we sure like to 'theorize' and 'justify' our actions these days.

Sheesh it's fairly simple

llohuir December 04, 2008 07:48PM

So graffiti that is allowed is cool? I'm just curious because...

Zoder December 05, 2008 10:22AM

Sure if it is allocated space for graffiti

llohuir December 05, 2008 09:27PM

is it still grafiti then?

Inquisitor December 05, 2008 10:04PM

Call it art, mural, or whatever

llohuir December 06, 2008 12:34AM

If vandalism is art, then genocide is just accelerated Darwinism

Rade December 04, 2008 06:19PM

Public graffiti spaces are cool, slap tagging and tagging for "turf" marking is ridiculous

hopelessdwarf December 04, 2008 03:17PM

I interpret what you are calling art as...

Pro December 04, 2008 01:19PM

Ironically.

istirith December 04, 2008 04:43PM

It's not even a troll

Pro December 06, 2008 07:57PM

fixed

Scrimbul December 05, 2008 02:48PM

Yeah yeah, calling on Government as per usual

Graham December 04, 2008 02:35PM

You are joking right? Seriously?

Pro December 04, 2008 03:15PM

He is using sarcasm as a means of demonstrating that you are a hypocrit. n/t

Balrahd(VIP) December 04, 2008 06:40PM

I'll bite.

Pro December 05, 2008 04:25PM

Ooh, calling honest people liars repeatedly, for one. Talking about peoples shitty characters for another. n/t

jalim December 06, 2008 11:20AM

If you are implying you are honest.

Pro December 06, 2008 07:53PM

Haha.

jalim December 07, 2008 05:33AM

The thing about liars.. they can't remember their lies.

Pro December 08, 2008 12:36PM

Hehehe

jalim December 09, 2008 02:34AM

I specifically remember reading posts like that from you all the time. n/t

jalim December 04, 2008 04:21PM

Jalim, you've proven yourself to be a liar in the past.

Pro December 04, 2008 05:46PM

Heh. You bit. n/t

jalim December 04, 2008 05:47PM

You win. n/t

Balrahd(VIP) December 04, 2008 06:39PM

It's vandalism.

cointreau December 04, 2008 12:52PM

Just because it's vandalism, and just because you don't appreciate it, doesn't make it not art. See my post below. nt

Splntrd December 04, 2008 03:15PM

ACtually because its vandalism I really think that negates the term art but thats my opinion n/t

hopelessdwarf December 04, 2008 03:20PM

Not at all.

Splntrd December 04, 2008 03:38PM

Vandalism= damaging property that you dont own=someone else has to pay to clean it up= not art n/t

Re: Vandalism= damaging property that you dont own=someone else has to pay to clean it up= not art n/t

StinkyDino December 05, 2008 09:18AM

Sure, vandalism is wrong. It's disrespectful and costly. But it can also be art. nt

Splntrd December 04, 2008 05:06PM

I keep trying to say the same thing about murder. Nobody listens to people like us. NT

Batman December 04, 2008 05:07PM

Too funny. : P nt

The Forsaken(VIP) December 04, 2008 05:55PM

Saying graffiti is art is like saying banging sticks on a hollow log is music

ExPaladin(VIP) December 04, 2008 03:41PM

I never said the vast majority of it wasn't shitty.

Splntrd December 04, 2008 03:46PM

Well judge for yourself ... (see inside)

WraithOfLight December 04, 2008 12:48PM

Depends on the Graffiti. I like witty or artistic tags. nt

Someone Not Special, Esquire December 04, 2008 11:14AM

It's annoying and usually looks trashy.

The Forsaken(VIP) December 04, 2008 08:55AM

Is it any better than corporate america force feeding you with their signs from cradle to grave?

Lokain December 04, 2008 10:21AM

Neither do I, so long as they paid for it.

The Forsaken(VIP) December 04, 2008 10:34AM

Yes because that's an incredibly easy thing to accomplish. Far easier than getting spraypaint and tagging the boards. THANKS FOR THE AWESOME INSIGHT! n/t

Lokain December 04, 2008 10:44AM

Addendum: Good movie out there about taggers called "Bomb the System" nt

Lokain December 04, 2008 10:23AM

It's not art. It's shit. Go get some paper, or pay for what you're drawing on. NT

Batman December 04, 2008 08:54AM

Or just get city permission

cyril December 04, 2008 09:11AM

Re: Or just get city permission

StinkyDino December 04, 2008 09:22AM

Why

StinkyDino December 04, 2008 08:56AM

When your art extends uninvited to things you don't own, it's NOT art. It's vandalism.

vladamir December 04, 2008 09:01AM

Re: When your art extends uninvited to things you don't own, it's NOT art. It's vandalism.

StinkyDino December 04, 2008 09:07AM

You're missing the point.

Scrimbul December 04, 2008 03:01PM

Re: You're missing the point.

StinkyDino December 04, 2008 08:10PM

No, it's as hard to do graffiti well as any other art medium. Vandalism issues and legality aside it's just a medium, what you can do with it is what matters.

Scrimbul December 04, 2008 09:49PM

If it was comissioned by the owner of that building, it's art. If not, then vandalism. nt

vladamir December 04, 2008 11:54AM

You couldn't be more wrong.

Splntrd December 04, 2008 03:12PM

Because the concept of art is subjective.

DurNominator(VIP) December 04, 2008 09:34PM

Yeah, see, here's an example of beautiful things that take too long to explain

Batman December 05, 2008 04:20AM

That's one tired goat

DurNominator(VIP) December 05, 2008 11:55AM

ANACHRONISMS ARE ART DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND NT

Scrimbul December 05, 2008 03:08PM

Re: Yeah, see, here's an example of beautiful things that take too long to explain

StinkyDino December 05, 2008 09:09AM

It doesn't take an art degree to tell when someone's private property has been defaced.

istirith December 04, 2008 05:23PM

Re: It doesn't take an art degree to tell when someone's private property has been defaced.

Splntrd December 04, 2008 05:54PM

Exactly. I'm talking about it on the whole as viewed by society.

istirith December 04, 2008 08:03PM

I will concede that definitions are somewhat flexible.

Splntrd December 05, 2008 07:52AM
