It never fails to surprise me

What ignorant bastards people can be, especially when it comes to gay marriage and other forms of blatant discrimination.

As a white, 28 year old heterosexual male, I have a lot of rights in this country. I can get married, get a drivers license, ride through a suburban neighborhood at night without getting pulled over, get paid top dollar, and many other things. I'm not anything special, but according to a handful of fucktardian idiots, not everyone can have the same rights as me. The fact that there needs to be a ruling for whether or not Prop 8 should continue to ban gay marriage just goes to show how fucked up our morals are.

First, okay, so a majority voted to deny a minority basic rights to get "opposite married". That right there should be a huge fucking flag. We don't vote on who gets what rights. We all get the same ones. Period. Marriage should fundamentally fall under the category of "pursuit of happiness", right after liberty and life.

How's this for fucked up logic? If a dude wanted to become a chick, he (before becoming a she) can get married to a woman, then become a woman, then stay legally married. If he became she then decided to marry a man, she could do it legally that way, too. And trannies are generally looked down upon more than the gays. Want more fucked up logic? A married dude could go to Vegas, get a blowjob from a hooker with five bastard children, get wasted drunk, head back to his wife, sex her up the ass, then divorce her for irreconcilable differences and, legally, that would be considered far more moral than two monogamous gays who love each other and get married.

Pisses me the fuck off. One of the contributing factors to this girl who was my best friend committing suicide was the inability to be recognized as married to her girlfriend of seven years. Yeah, she had depression issues as well. When her girlfriend tried to see her in the hospital, they denied her admittance based on the lack of recognition of the relationship status between the two women. She later lied and claimed it was her sister and they let her in.

Government should get out of the marriage business altogether. nt

PaulO May 26, 2009 02:58PM

What does that mean in this context? That prop 8 should have been overturned? nt

Balrahd(VIP) May 26, 2009 03:17PM

People should be able to do whatever they want as long as they don't aggress against others. nt

PaulO May 27, 2009 08:58AM

I'm pretty sure it means that marriage is not something the state should be involved in..

Rade May 26, 2009 03:31PM

Not to be obtuse, but .. I'm not sure you've answered whether you think Prop 8 should have been overturned. n/t

Balrahd(VIP) May 26, 2009 09:42PM

Ideally the argument should've never existed

Rade May 27, 2009 05:26AM

it's really a matter of semantics. txt

Touche sir. Equally clever and humorous. nt

I would hazard a guess that same-sex couples being able to adopt is one of them~

Most of the 'best' benefits of marriage cannot be attained outside of marriage currently

My understanding...

Rade May 27, 2009 06:43PM

I agree nt

Rade May 26, 2009 03:07PM

Should we allow beastiality and necrophilia marriage too?

bobbyp May 26, 2009 02:48PM

You know whats even more twisted than that?

vortex_magus May 27, 2009 12:16PM

I think the line is "two consenting adults." So bestiality, necrophilia, pedophilia, hooking up with your rose bush, etc. don't apply. n/t

Balrahd(VIP) May 26, 2009 02:56PM

Pedophile should be tortured. I'm ok with the rest of those. nt

Matrik May 27, 2009 07:38AM

It's like the early sixties all over again. Our kids will look back on this gay marriage thing with a collective WTF were they thinking?

bell May 26, 2009 09:01AM

Actually they have the exact same rights as you do, and the exact same rules apply.

Starscream May 26, 2009 08:59AM

The rules ARE magically changing just for them, hence trying to put "man and woman" in the Constitution

The Baron May 26, 2009 10:32AM

And you know, I think it's not fair that I can't marry my eight year old girlfriend.

Starscream May 26, 2009 11:56AM

Without researching anti-incest laws, I'd say:

Starscream May 27, 2009 03:59AM

And don't get me wrong, I agree with you on the gay marriage thing.

Starscream May 27, 2009 06:06AM

No, they really aren't.

Starscream May 26, 2009 11:47AM

Right, just like the rich are equally forbidden to panhandle and sleep under bridges. ~
