Actually pot isn't *physically* addicting

October 01, 2011 09:23AM
Heroin is addicting in the fact your body reacts when you don't have it. Pot doesn't react when you don't have it. The psychological addiction can make you have insomnia or whatever other symptoms you have. None of those are caused by any physical need for the drug.

While yes, you experienced withdrawal symptoms it's from your psychological want for it, not your body's need.

Public Service Announcement: Pot is more dangerous than caffeine

PaulO September 30, 2011 07:57AM

Fallacious Reasoning.

The Faithful of Nazmorghul October 02, 2011 08:09AM

I think I saw a sibling study not too long ago that supported the same conclusion as the original post

PaulO October 02, 2011 02:09PM

More

PaulO October 02, 2011 02:23PM

Caffeine is legal and pot isn't. I don't think it's newsworthy. Sorry. NT

Sam September 30, 2011 05:53PM

Pot's not addictive. Not as much money in that.

Rogue October 01, 2011 02:37AM

I would argue that it is

daurwyn(VIP) October 03, 2011 08:21AM

Re: I would argue that it is

Rogue October 03, 2011 10:18AM

Well, there is chemical dependency for marijuana. It's just not something that's hard to overcome, unlike Heroin or other opiates for example.

Sam October 03, 2011 11:11AM

Myth..

Splntrd October 01, 2011 03:22AM

No, definitely had withdrawal symptoms. They were as follows: Insomnia, decreased appetite, and crazily vivid dreams.

Sam October 01, 2011 10:22AM

Yeah - exactly. I know what was going on - I was being sarcastic for Rogue. nt

Splntrd October 01, 2011 06:55PM

God I can never read into sarcasm, love u too nt

Rogue October 02, 2011 08:12AM

Make it up to me by giving me some PK advice. PM me for some lulz. nt

Actually pot isn't *physically* addicting

reject-o October 01, 2011 09:23AM

So what?

Java October 01, 2011 03:56PM

I'd think that you being in the military would approve of medial marijuana due to the link that been shown for the treatmend of PTSD. I know when PA legalizes medicinal I'll be line. Xanex and most other anti-anxiety medicines are benzodiazepines that cau (n/t)

kanye October 02, 2011 05:01PM

That said

daurwyn(VIP) October 03, 2011 08:25AM

This. nt

Splntrd October 01, 2011 06:56PM

The same is true of cocaine.

vortexmagus October 01, 2011 09:53AM

No, I didn't.

Splntrd October 01, 2011 07:48AM

The anxiety is because you smoke pot, not because you are withdrawing

Rogue October 02, 2011 07:58AM

I like how you start off by saying he's wrong, and end by saying it's just your opinion. nt

Java October 03, 2011 12:32AM

No, there's definitely withdrawal from pot. Its not as harsh as cocaine or heroin, but its still there. (n/t)

vortexmagus October 01, 2011 07:34AM

Depends on where you live. Both are legal in CA (n/t)

morocco October 01, 2011 02:51AM

Ah, yes they definately have disclaimers about prescribing to teenagers and younger. n/t

Death_Claw October 01, 2011 08:19AM

It's called those people are self medicating their condition with weed. Correlation <> Causality (n/t)

Being fully immersed in a culture of regular recreational users...

Splntrd September 30, 2011 05:59PM

that sucks

morocco October 01, 2011 02:57AM

Berieve me, it's been discussed. nt

Splntrd October 01, 2011 03:28AM

Complete and utter failure, man.

vortexmagus September 30, 2011 02:27PM

I've learned to stop bothering taking stuff like this article seriously.

Death_Claw September 30, 2011 11:31PM

This isn't the first study to say this

PaulO October 01, 2011 12:24PM

This. In addition....

Splntrd October 01, 2011 01:44AM

From these responses, we can figure out who didn't actually read the article

vortexmagus October 01, 2011 02:08AM

Why do you spout stupid bullshit like this?

Death_Claw October 01, 2011 08:15AM

Fair enough.

PaulO October 01, 2011 12:57PM

I have to take a look at the study.

Death_Claw October 03, 2011 07:27PM

Though already this one marginalizes a lot of it...

Death_Claw October 03, 2011 08:02PM

Two things.

Sam October 01, 2011 01:15PM

I'm not saying everyone has issues from it.

PaulO October 01, 2011 04:20PM

Translation: My anecdotal evidence > Rigorous Scientific Analysis

vortexmagus October 01, 2011 09:56AM

I'm basing my post on the article as it is written, what're you basing yours on?

Death_Claw October 03, 2011 07:24PM

I think what he is saying is the study you linked to isn't exactly the strongest scientific evidence to prove your point.

Sam October 01, 2011 10:26AM

I don't actually care whether people regard marijuana use as harmless or not

vortexmagus October 01, 2011 11:39AM

Marijuana is not harmless nor have I ever said such.

Sam October 01, 2011 12:53PM

I've explicitly stated in this thread that weed isn't harmless, asshole. nt

Splntrd October 01, 2011 03:25AM

Yeah, thats why I edited my remarks to direct them at people who thought weed wasn't harmless. (n/t)

vortexmagus October 01, 2011 03:33AM

Inhaling burning substances habitually is never 'harmless'.

Death_Claw October 01, 2011 08:22AM

Secondhand smoke

jegec October 02, 2011 01:17AM

I care more about avoiding old cars with dusty plastic interiors and shitty fast food.

Death_Claw October 03, 2011 07:25PM

Fucking thank you! I notice that shit in every second-hand smoke article I ever read.

Sam October 01, 2011 11:13AM

I'd really like to see how they arranged the control group

morocco October 01, 2011 03:10AM

They say right in the article that nobody's sure about the causality.. (n/t)
