I wasn't lying

Are you magically sealed inside that one state? 40,000 new laws are going into affect. Yes, they are state laws. I travel very often, already I've been to 4 different states this year, so saying that only 800 of these laws could possibly apply to me isn't true. I'll even throw you a bone. I've personally seen police let people go on account that they were from out of state and didn't know the law. Go figure, they're not all bad guys. That's the exception, not the rule. I probably will not visit all 50 states this year, but if I wanted to, and had the means to, I could. Then yes, I would have to learn 40,000 laws if I wanted to be absolutely certain that my conduct stay inside of the law. Illogical, Captain. Yes.. but.. the.. consequence is in the principle.. Mr. Spock. To.. avoid the consequence.. one.. must.. deny the principle.

You understand my point, that because on the off chance one of these laws might affect you, you'll need to know them if you want to avoid the consequences of breaking said law. But my argument is that it's illogical to expect someone to read every law that's being passed, therefore ignorance of the law is unavoidable yet no excuse and that's not acceptable. They need to stop smashing every miniscule fucking subject they can think of with the mandate stamp. I never broke out into sweat and called the cops when I saw incandescent light bulbs being sold before, so you can't expect that only laws which apply to criminal behavior to pass.

No, the vast majority of laws being passed are not criminal laws. A bell didn't go off in my head as soon as they outlawed light bulbs, and I don't assume someone will inform me of which laws I have to pay attention to and which I do not. Guess that leaves me with two options. Ignorance or reading until FO-EV-VA!

*edit* Took out the insults. I'm sorry, it's been a very stressful week.

Can you summarize this? TL:DR (n/t)

kanye April 05, 2012 11:07AM

This is what I'm most concerned about

MiyagiYojimbo April 06, 2012 02:16AM

You are mistaken.

alansmithee April 06, 2012 06:49PM

Things are Orwellian lately

MiyagiYojimbo April 07, 2012 01:15AM

But if you believe that fervently, what's the point of trying to stop it and make other people aware rather than ensure you can survive the fallen ashes like most conspiracy theorists?

I think you and I interpret things very differently.

....

MiyagiYojimbo April 07, 2012 12:46PM

Here is a helpful interpretation

Resend them that letter

MiyagiYojimbo April 08, 2012 01:12AM

There are some sites that actually find your representative's contact information and email his office a generic letter of opposition.

Batman April 08, 2012 01:37AM

Well, I don't have time to call my representatives up and ask them to explain every law that passes either.

MiyagiYojimbo April 08, 2012 04:10AM

Umm, did you even read that article?

Java April 08, 2012 05:05AM

Java

MiyagiYojimbo April 08, 2012 12:53PM

Except you're trying to say everyone needs to memorize 40k new laws every year. Which is a lie.

Java April 08, 2012 01:01PM

I wasn't lying

MiyagiYojimbo April 08, 2012 07:34PM

You said you would need to study over 100 laws a day. That is only true if you will be in all 50 states. You lied. Or didn't pay attention. Either way, you're an idiot. nt

Java April 09, 2012 12:43AM

I never said ignorance of the law is against the law itself, are you reading through a translator?

MiyagiYojimbo April 09, 2012 02:15AM

I don't think you need to read that many to stay within the law.

Batman April 09, 2012 02:54AM

Definitely, but it's up to you to know which laws to know.

MiyagiYojimbo April 09, 2012 03:03AM

This is how I interpreted it.

vortexmagus April 07, 2012 12:12PM

US Govt. is sharing cyber security intellingence information with those it seems fit.

DurNominator(VIP) April 05, 2012 06:27PM

I would love to know which Private companies the government wants to work with.

Splntrd April 05, 2012 08:38PM

Also think RIAA and MPAA using our government as their personal hired goons. Well even more then they are now. (n/t)
