Less about unions more about standard of living

A union is just one mechanism of raising standards of living. The saying "you get what you pay for" is a very true one. You pay people more in developed countries because they want roads, safe food, clean air, education, and energy access. Society has to foot the bills for those things and that money comes from the people directly or indirectly. Someone is willing to work for ten cents on the dollar because they don't want all of those things.
