I generally agree with you

I would add that most military jobs do not really *require* the PT requirements of a combat warrior. If you're an auto mechanic you don't need to have the same levels of physical fitness as the guys busting down doors and taking people down in close quarter combat. And that yes, the the standards should be lowered for both men and women in the cases where it's really not necessary.

More on women in combat roles

Mysogyny?

chuntog January 31, 2013 06:01AM

I'll cede that there may possibly be some gender-based differences, but as I pointed out: Most does not mean all.

Matrik January 31, 2013 06:12AM

Couple things..

Java January 30, 2013 09:25PM

Will make it short since you mostly seem to be saying the same things.

Matrik January 31, 2013 06:26AM

Without even getting to the point that 98% of the women in the military are absolute dogs

kanye January 30, 2013 05:17PM

Doesn't matter. You're a Cheater. End of Story. (n/t)

Pro January 30, 2013 07:07PM

lol at the 5s become 10s

Matrik January 30, 2013 05:29PM

Who can forget she's a desert 10! (n/t)

Pro January 30, 2013 07:08PM

You shouldn't try to prevent the pregnancy spike.

DurNominator(VIP) January 30, 2013 12:10PM

Ok boy scout

Matrik January 30, 2013 12:19PM

Yup. That's why it's called infantry. (n/t)

DurNominator(VIP) January 30, 2013 12:21PM

I generally agree with you

Rade January 30, 2013 11:34AM

I agree with your premise. However, consider too that above all we/you are always riflemen first. So even joe slob the supply guy needs to have basic fitness. (n/t)

Matrik January 30, 2013 12:17PM

For the spike in pregnancy you do have to take into account how much of that is deployment avoidance... (n/t)

NbM(VIP) January 30, 2013 10:40AM

Clarify please. The spike I'm referring to is specifically for the purposes of deployment avoidance. Are you arguing that it isn't or was I not clear? (n/t)

Matrik January 30, 2013 10:43AM

Oh, I just read it wrong, I agree with you. (n/t)

NbM(VIP) January 30, 2013 11:02AM

Wish you wouldn't. This thread is boring.

Matrik January 30, 2013 11:03AM

We could have a discussion on gender roles and gender in general.

sevriis January 30, 2013 12:18PM

I'm ok with either. My fiance's thesis required a lot of research/info regarding gender roles, so I'll be coming to that fight guns blazing.

Matrik January 30, 2013 12:23PM

ohhh my :3 (n/t)

re: Love affect

Matrik January 30, 2013 10:41AM

Not so much an argument as me writing my thoughts on the matter, and yes my thoughts at times are filled with contradictions and fallacies. (n/t)

ghuljun_thul January 30, 2013 11:52AM

Haha, no dude. Not YOUR argument. THE (love affect) argument. You did fine. (n/t)

Matrik January 30, 2013 12:18PM

Good post, Matrik. inb4 insanity. (n/t)

wrathpuppet January 30, 2013 09:47AM

Can you explain "inb4" for me? Seriously. (n/t)

Matrik January 30, 2013 10:17AM

Meme for predicting a response before it's said thereby theoretically reducing credibility of said response. (n/t)

Scrimbul January 30, 2013 10:23AM

Everything I need to know about how effective women would be in combat I learned watching Starship Troopers (n/t)

Baroness January 30, 2013 09:31AM

Like any good military person, you have used too many acronyms...

JimmyDean January 30, 2013 08:58AM

Yeah sorry.

Matrik January 30, 2013 10:29AM

I think it would be easier to think about this less if/when male birth control becomes feasible. e.g. 'the pill' for men that safely reduces or eliminates sperm count ala the old Mountain Dew rumor.

Scrimbul January 30, 2013 10:29AM

Huh, I assumed this already existed. Not too surprised I guess. (n/t)

Matrik January 30, 2013 10:30AM

It doesn't exist, but consider that if it did you lose a huge amount of incentive to be 'moral' in the biblical sense of the word with regard to pre-marital sex.

Scrimbul January 30, 2013 10:47AM

I see what you are saying, but I don't see how you come to that conclusion.

Matrik January 30, 2013 10:53AM

Right to reproduce is a basic human right.

DurNominator(VIP) January 30, 2013 12:16PM

US Military personnel are expected to give up certain "basic human rights" as a condition of service. I'm ok with this.

Matrik January 30, 2013 12:21PM

I think it is better to give them the choise.

DurNominator(VIP) January 30, 2013 12:31PM

So, let's assume that mandatory birth control is off the table:

Matrik January 30, 2013 12:50PM

The military does offer free birth control and conoms. "Accidental" pregnancies aren't the issue that this is attempting to address.

Matrik January 30, 2013 12:39PM

Vasectomies are reversible, yes.

Scrimbul January 30, 2013 10:58AM

So what about condoms? I just don't think going a little further down the road of making recreational sex easier is going to be a big deal. I mean, we are damn near 100% there already heh. (n/t)

Matrik January 30, 2013 10:59AM

Outside of a shithole fob that a trailer px, condoms can be found in theather. (n/t)

kanye January 30, 2013 05:20PM

I think at this point the conversation is no longer military related. However, our clinic gave out condoms to whoever. (n/t)

Matrik January 30, 2013 05:29PM

Condoms are not a big deal to me, but you can imagine how quickly in today's political environment male birth control will be regulated out of the market entirely if the wrong combination of politicians realize it exists.

Scrimbul January 30, 2013 11:01AM

Oh yeah, for sure. Some will try. (n/t)

Matrik January 30, 2013 11:02AM

I have been editing my posts as I go like a tard, but if you check my top post I added a link to the male birth control thing. You may want to glance over the posts again going down. (n/t)

Scrimbul January 30, 2013 11:10AM

Damn youuu.
