If you don't mind me asking..

July 17, 2013 11:37AM
I hope this isn't insulting but it's a very honest question based on my limited and personal high school experience.

It always seemed like to just graduate, not to get honors or AP credits, but to just graduate with a high school diploma you basically had to speak half-ass English and show up most of the time. Everyone here, as far as I can tell, has the wherewithal to easily graduate high school. I personally considered dropping out at 16 to get a GED and go straight to college but I'm glad I didn't because I never finished college and the GED only would've hurt me a lot.

What was it about high school or what event in your life occurred that led you to decide to drop out?

GED here too. Year in Iraq to help pay for mine. (n/t)

If you don't mind me asking..

Rade July 17, 2013 11:37AM

Ask away, I'm an open book with an anonymous author:

Matrik July 17, 2013 12:08PM

That's what I'm doing too

Randomguy July 14, 2013 07:00AM

Someone is lying to you. (n/t)

Matrik July 14, 2013 08:09AM

Umm...no. I've spoken to quite a few recruiters, they all said the same thing (n/t)

Randomguy July 14, 2013 08:33AM

I'm guessing you scored really poorly on the ASVAB? (n/t)

Matrik July 14, 2013 08:54AM

No, I got a 94 on my ASVAB

Randomguy July 14, 2013 09:00AM

Matrik its changed since we were in. Bear in mind accross the board their is a draw down of forces. What service do you to join guy and what mos? (n/t)

kanye July 14, 2013 10:08AM

Like in the last two months? AFAIK there is still a waiver for everything. I've got a buddy working as a recruiter now, but it has been 2-3 months. (n/t)

Matrik July 14, 2013 10:11AM

You can't get a waiver for a LOT of things. High blood pressure (Unless it is minor), asthma, stupidity, ADHD, ect. (n/t)

tesline July 14, 2013 11:56AM

Eh, there are astmatics in the military. I don't think any of the things you mentioned require waivers. (n/t)

Matrik July 14, 2013 12:27PM

Yeah, asthma is an almost guaranteed DQ

Java July 14, 2013 12:43PM

Then it's a waiver basis. I treated asthmatics and two of my squadmates were diagnosed with ADD.

Matrik July 14, 2013 03:32PM

You can develop it in the military but if you have it before it's a permanent DQ which means NO WAIVER. (n/t)

tesline July 14, 2013 05:23PM

That certainly could be the case. (n/t)

Matrik July 14, 2013 05:30PM

My brother didn't have Asthma going into the Marines.

Randomguy July 14, 2013 01:04PM

"Showing signs of it" or "diagnosed"? Because those two aren't the same thing. nt

Java July 14, 2013 02:29PM

Again, you can have asthma and still be in the service. (n/t)

Matrik July 14, 2013 03:45PM

It depends. Going on what my recruiter said (at first I was going to go into the marines, because I've wanted to since I was like 8 years old)

Randomguy July 14, 2013 08:59PM

They don't as they are permanent DQs. (n/t)

tesline July 14, 2013 12:35PM

Only thing to stop you then is MOS. You don't get your choice with GED. (n/t)

Matrik July 14, 2013 09:33AM

Whatever, you obviously know more than the recruiters.

Randomguy July 14, 2013 09:43AM

Here you go pal, take a look at this link:

Matrik July 14, 2013 03:54PM

Don't be a numbskull, I'm trying to tell you: Find a new recruiter.

Matrik July 14, 2013 10:03AM

Like I said, I've spoken to a few different recruiters.

Randomguy July 14, 2013 10:36AM

Yeah, I could see Air Force not finding you a waiver. Army or Marines, if you are MOS open, will get you in damn near no matter what.

Matrik July 14, 2013 10:40AM

Yeah well I'm not going in the Army.

Randomguy July 14, 2013 10:45AM

Stress cards are a myth. They have never existed. (n/t)

kanye July 14, 2013 10:48AM

I have a friend in the army, they do exist. (n/t)

Randomguy July 14, 2013 10:52AM

When did he go through basic?

Matrik July 14, 2013 10:59AM

He went through basic two years ago, somewhere in Arizona I think it was. (n/t)

Randomguy July 14, 2013 11:05AM

Nope:

Matrik July 14, 2013 11:08AM

Like I said, I think. I'm not exactly sure which one he went to. It's been a while since he told me. (n/t)

Randomguy July 14, 2013 11:11AM

Trolling aside:

Matrik July 14, 2013 11:18AM

Recruiters lie to get MORE recruits, not to chase them away.

Java July 14, 2013 11:53AM

That to (college first I mean, probably the better option anyway). Also, recruiters:

Matrik July 14, 2013 12:30PM

Depends on if your recruiter is an asshole or not. Mine advised me NOT to go in as infantry and my MOS is either Crypto Linguist or nbc. (n/t)

tesline July 14, 2013 12:39PM

Eh, I'd much rather be a grunt than an NBC guy. Their jobs are absolute shit. Crypto might be cool, never met anyone with that MOS. (n/t)

Matrik July 14, 2013 03:33PM

Crypto is just electronic key control and accountability

NbM(VIP) July 14, 2013 03:41PM

There you have it. I figured it was a crap job, but didn't want to say it until I knew. (n/t)

Matrik July 14, 2013 03:47PM

I'm going in as a translator so I don't think he is correct. (n/t)

tesline July 14, 2013 05:22PM

I have 14 years in on the IT side of military operations for cryptography and information assurance/cyber security... are you speaking translator as in linguist? (n/t)

NbM(VIP) July 14, 2013 05:25PM

Silly bastard. He said crypto linguist like two posts ago. I just shortened it to crypto. (n/t)

Matrik July 14, 2013 05:28PM

Bah! Skimming posts got me, I blame my 'smart' phone. (n/t)

NbM(VIP) July 14, 2013 05:30PM

I am not going for IT I'm taking my DLABS this week. I'm likely going to be learning Korean. (n/t)

tesline July 14, 2013 05:26PM

Woops, my bad, that sounds awesome though. So good job. (n/t)

NbM(VIP) July 14, 2013 05:30PM

Nice dude, good job. That will no doubt be both an enjoyable and good career.

Matrik July 14, 2013 05:29PM

Thanks the the annoying thing is I'm in for 9 years not 8 (both 4 inactive). I also will live in south Korea. (n/t)

tesline July 14, 2013 05:30PM

Easy fella...

Java July 15, 2013 04:16AM

Agreed re inactive

smashtro July 15, 2013 05:38AM

I'm going for the Marines. Randomguy (my cousin) is doing the air force.

tesline July 15, 2013 05:24AM

How many cousins do you have on here?

HairyOrangutan July 15, 2013 05:40AM

CousinFields! (n/t)

smashtro July 15, 2013 05:44AM

Incest is best, put your cousin to the test. (n/t)

Matrik July 17, 2013 06:22AM

They are brothers. I'm just waiting for the perma accusations. (n/t)

tesline July 15, 2013 05:43AM

Depending on your personality, you'll probably love Korea.

Matrik July 14, 2013 05:33PM

Oh yeah, plus getting a 94 on the ASVAB gives me more of a variety (n/t)

Randomguy July 14, 2013 11:43AM

Well, the article I posted for you was just over two years ago. He was probably lying to you too. (n/t)

Matrik July 14, 2013 11:16AM

He isn't as my recruiter said the same thing as did my friends. (n/t)

tesline July 14, 2013 11:59AM

Of course your recruiter said that and your friends that talked to a recruiter said that. My recruiter told me that too. Over ten years ago.

Matrik July 14, 2013 12:31PM

They tell you that you need a GED and 15 college credits to make you think it isn't hard? Stop hitting Kov's meth pipe. (n/t)

tesline July 14, 2013 12:34PM

You never fail to amaze me with your idiocy. Why don't you read this line of posts and think about what the subject is. (n/t)

Matrik July 14, 2013 03:30PM

I'm not the one spewing loads and loads of misinfo. There might of been one thing you have said so far on this thread that was correct. (n/t)

tesline July 14, 2013 05:24PM

Except I've backed up the only things I've said with a certainty. Except "waiver for everything," which there is. (n/t)

Matrik July 14, 2013 05:31PM

Hey bro, his brother is a marine. Better watch out.

Matrik July 14, 2013 10:50AM

Ah well, you couldn't handle high school. You might want to consider having a stress card handy. (n/t)

Matrik July 14, 2013 10:47AM

Yeah it wasn't stress. I never did homework, and I skipped alot of days.

Randomguy July 14, 2013 10:50AM

Just to chime in at the end:

The Faithful of Nazmorghul(VIP) July 14, 2013 01:47PM

I literally lold. Matrik 1 - RandonGuy - 0 (n/t)

kanye July 14, 2013 10:49AM

I did. (n/t)
