I also read that at least half the responses were in SUPPORT of Stevers.
That is the part I found shocking.
I can't stand Stevers. But as annoying as he is, he is mostly harmless. I think QHCF is better when he isn't here, but judging by that thread (which is now deleted), it seemed like he did have his (grudging) supporters.
I still don't think Stevers has done anything even remotely as damaging for QHCF as having Yhorian as VIP. But whether you agree with me or not, you won't admit it. And that's the source of a lot of the issues people have. VIPs are treated like they're "better" than regular posters. They're given more leeway with breaking rules, they're allowed to delete and ban posts with (by all appearances) minimal oversight. And in practice, it makes everyone who doesn't kiss ass feel like they're treated as a second class citizen.
Hell, up until a couple days ago, I gave up on this board entirely. There's millions of forums on this internet thing out there, and the vast majority of them you don't notice who is and isn't a moderator or what they're doing. All it takes is simple and clear rules, and simple and clear responses to violations of those rules. Instead you have people (including VIPs) breaking the rules without punishment, while other people seem to get hammered for only minimal offenses.
If you want people to follow the rules on these forums, then you have to 1. HAVE rules (real rules, not the piece of shit half-assed list that you already have) and 2. ENFORCE those rules consistently, and at an appropriate level for the violation.
