You stated "Because America is good." The implication there is that our support of Israel is an act of good.by Rade - OT Board
The negative repercussions are obvious. Your position seems to be that billions upon billions of dollars and thousands upon thousands of deaths is worth it. Without backing that up it does appear to be lunacy.by Rade - OT Board

Not the least of which is 9/11 and various other attacks that can be directly attributed to our support for Israel. What's *not* obvious is the theory of what would have happened if we had not supported Israel. But that is what you're suggesting so I would submit the onus is on you.by Rade - OT Board
is that you've failed to provide any evidence that our aid for Israel is a "good" rather than a "neutral" or "bad."by Rade - OT Board
It's an evolutionarily beneficial trait that aids with childbirth. They also have these weird hormonal things which allow them to forget the horribleness of events after a short time (again, related to childbirth). What they do lack, again speaking generally, is the physical strength of their male counterpart. Whether or not that matters as much as people make it out to matter is beyoby Rade - OT Board

I'm not saying the South was right. I'm saying they were mad they were losing their wealth. Slavery is disgusting. However, at the time they did not view the slaves as people, they were cattle. And this view was not unique to the southern United States during that time in history. So, understanding their horrific primitive view of human beings with dark skin I can understand theirby Rade - OT Board

I propose that if fully automatic rifles were legal and you could buy them in Wal-Mart that cheap pistols would still be the most commonly used type of weapons in gun crimes. Certainly the number of crimes with fully automatic rifles would go up, but I don't think it would ever come near what occurs with pistols. I would further cede that "mass killings" might have higher deaby Rade - OT Board
Next time someone says "Gun control doesn't work" you should assume that they mean "The types of gun control that are typically proposed by anti-gun people don't work." Or perhaps even "The types of gun control that are not obviously counter to the rule and spirit of the 2nd amendment are not meaningfully effective." If we banned all guns and went throuby Rade - OT Board
Once you subtract out the homicides related to gangs and/or the drug trade the stats look much better for average joe. Civil people really have very little to fear in the name of gun violence. It does happen, and it's quite tragic when it does, but if you're not involved in illegal shit the odds you're going to die from a gun murder are quite small. At first the federal government said that the states could have slavery if they wanted to no problem. But now, all of a sudden, if you happened to travel with your slave into a "free" state then your slave can basically walk away from you. This is directly counter to the inter-state commerce clause. I only refer to them in passing to make generalizations such as Columbine was planned for over a year and I cite that anecdote to reference that mass killings are not people "going crazy" and killing people one day, they're generally quite precisely planned and carried out acts of terrible violence. the top two priorities of the evil dictator will be power and money. The evil dictator is unlikely to carpet bomb the manufacturing plants that make the things that the evil dictator uses to get more money and power. That's not to say that the dictator won't destroy those facilities if he feels he needs to to maintain his power, but they will generally avoid it. Neighborhoods are desby Rade - OT Board
Even saying the evil dictator might instruct the military to bomb California and they might comply doesn't change the argument.by Rade - OT Board
The Civil War was about money and assets. The north had manufacturing while the south had farming. As far as the southerners were concerned their slaves were their assets. Having slaves was a bit like having an investment account, something you'd pass down to your children when you died. The north, in attempting to remove slavery, was basically saying to the south: "We're goingby Rade - OT Board
The army basically gave up and the "bad guys" have mostly WWII rifles and a few mortars/rpgs tossed in. When we had 100k troops there trying to hold things together they had a very hard time doing so. No doubt our military could have just carpet bombed the entire country and killed everyone in sight but that wasn't really an option on the table. Similarly even with the militaryby Rade - OT Board
If all weapons were single shot pistols/rifles then the likelihood of gun deaths would diminish. This argument/reality is not significantly different from arguing that banning all guns and doing major gun grabs would also reduce gun crime. So no one is arguing, that I've seen, against your point that punitively nerfing firearms would mean that guns would become less dangerous. But thaby Rade - OT Board
