I have had multiple pairs of Borns and they are really comfy but I don't think they wear especially well. Go try on some Keens, from what you're saying you're looking for they sound about perfect. I'll take Keens over Born in general.

This is pretty common for international shipments going UPS. The shipper has the option of deciding whether they're going to pay duties and taxes or if they leave them to the buyer. If I remember correctly the way up is not wilderness but there's a stretch of desert from between the guardian to where the halls start, about maybe 9 rooms? The inner and outer guardians are not wilderness though.
