and you're not using mana with malison attempts - granted as a dark elf you had a different experience of the mana cost of spelling people down and plague was more likely to land with or without the malison
In my experience as countless A-P's and necromancers, it would be possible to land sleep on guys with levels on your or tons of saves and then burn through your entire mana pool without landing *anything*

You don't even need aura/shield a lot of the time, you just let the warrior lag himself out lagging you out, and if you slip in an iceball or two between getting bashed you get your PK
1. CF is hard. Eventually the new guy will learn but not until he's heroed and con died without landing a single PK. This is the nature of CF.
2. I got over it after one of my arguably more successful characters got an impossible black spot straightaway and was never able to gather a single black rod throughout his entire life. That was very instructive on the relative importance of hoard
Fun fact: Ychram never gathered a single black rod in his life. Also Daurwyn is a guy who thinks it's possible to solo Tlatinier as a level 36 AP because he has done. I don't want to say Tsalantha wouldn't fight without barrier or take risks, because she did, but I really can't see her taking on Magner without it.
My aliases don't include a target, so if I want to cast sleep kstatida I have to cs kst rather than just cs.
You can often anticipate when someone is going to miss a beat and give you a chance to begin combat, like on the bends in the eastern road - if you're aware of them you can catch your panicking victim when he spams east one too many times. Which is one example, area knowledge
Whenever I took down one of your shifters you always had a ton of black rods, and I'd have been relying on limited barrier the whole time and sometimes even regathering during the skirmish.
Is that when Yeltsin started selling off the state machinery, initially he disallowed foreign investors, meaning he essentially sold it all off to no money, since none of the former soviet citizens had much.
Fighting Einrai as Ogrot.. he could take a kicking. I had to resort to headbutt and sometimes punt because bash was just a waste of rounds against him.
