I was fine with 10-15 useful for the character. And I had several ways to earn and could choose which of them suits me more. Now when I can't do that anymore I just don't play. Works fine.
I did use the trigger from time to time. Not to up my PK count but not to get killed on command spam when I miss assassination attempt and partialy to compensate ping difference. Ah and it surely still did kill me a few times as I often was forgetting to turn it off.
Against any opponent having at least some saves bards suck. All they are good at now is buff allies and vibrato spam. Or land a sleep and call gank. And that's it. You can keep imagining what ever fantastic plans you want but if their songs don't land at all who cares.
for wasting his time instead of doing something useful. And while fantasia negates cabal powers I don't see how it could be useful in that fight. What power does WM have which has to be negated? And I won't even start on the chance of actualy landing it as tragic bard. Notice he even failed grand nocturne.

Rothinai is here.
Bevashis is here.
A stout dwarf bouncer hefts his cudgel and looks for trouble.
A huge, fat man looks distracted as he passes out drinks.

assassinate Rothinai
You creep up behind Rothinai and stab your sword deep into Rothinai
For example here you are trying to hit svirf with acid sword which he's resistant to, while you have your hth and unarmed defence and can exploit his blunt vuln. Not to mention that using hth gives you backfist which goes through all defences if fire.
Don't try to use hth vs axes without trance up though. It hurts.
Assassin vs assassin is stupid and boring. It's either one of the opponent is new and don't know the ropes and then he's going to be steamrolled or both know basic ropes and then the fight goes like you describe. Of course at some point everyone can make fatal mistake but the chance is low and gets lower with basic experience. So it was more productive to avoid fighting you and sta
Unless you call multi-killing killing someone more than one time no matter in what period of time I found it funny to get this reputation. I can remember just 3 people whome I killed more than once during one day unprovoked. Well the first one was actively hunting those I was hunting too, so maybe not so unprovoked. The second was Balgrum's ranger. And holy, maybe I was tired but I just mess
Basic trance...not so much. It only makes you very hard to be killed solo for pretty much any opponent. With 0 stalks your opponent still defends good enough to survive for 10+ rounds in most cases. To win the fight you need to use maledicts and thus can't stop enemy from fleeing. With 2 stalks I was starting to block escape but still was killing them not so fast and they could often retreat
