My first job was part-time, during the summer, working at a softball park near my house. For $3.80/hr. My responsibilities included: 1. Sitting in a small cinder-block pillbox taking peoples' money and giving them tickets. No AC, one small oscillating fan, with a metal door that faced the direction of the Sun. In 100 degree (F) weather. Also, I couldn't leave the box. So peoplby Isildur - OT Board
Why do you assume, without evidence, that Whyisdan was running this quest for an OOC friend? If you *do* think that's what's happening, the correct response is to email the IMPs. Not get all mouthy with him and then delete.by Isildur - Log Board

After thinking about this a little, I'm against powering up giants and non-dexy races. I'd rather nerf the things we think are too strong. So remove (or nerf) evade and remove (or nerf) STSF. Wouldn't that about do it? Evade honestly doesn't seem like that big a deal, unless it's way better on 24/25 dex characters than it is on 23 dex. How about this: 1. Evadeby Isildur - Main Board
In terms of "realism" (yes, I know we're talking about a fantasy game with elves and giants), I'm fine with elves not getting hit as often. Fly like a butterfly and all. Giants are large and slow moving. However, being so large, they should have like 3x the hit points of an elf. That said, they should hit *other people* less often too. Because, again, they're big aby Isildur - Main Board
So changes the equation (slightly) for ranking, mob fighting, exploring, etc. Also gives a boost to strong race non-warriors, which may or may not be warranted.by Isildur - Main Board
Maybe we need to view giant warriors as more like orcs and less like dexy warriors. You get giant bash, which is nice for people you can bash and whom you can outmelee in a total-command-denial scenario. But you're not as good against people you cant' bash. There are certainly builds that have more to fear from giant axe spec than they do from dexy guy.by Isildur - Main Board
If he were to roll a paladin, what could we measure that would indicate whether or not bat is overpowered?by Isildur - Char Board
.by Isildur - Main Board
You wouldn't be doing it because you want play a paladin, per se; you'd be doing it prove a point. If bat is as crazy overpowered as you say then you should be able to rack up a massive amount of kills even as a non-paladin player. Right?by Isildur - Char Board
So you can argue the whole concept of ternary alignment is silly, but given it exists, Maran seems sensible.by Isildur - Main Board
Maran seems pretty logical to me. There are bad people in the world who are hurting people. We need to get rid of them so they won't hurt people any more. We know who is bad by who has a red aura, which the gods have allowed us to detect.by Isildur - Main Board
Fortress, Empire and Tribunal make sense. Outlander's iffy.by Isildur - Main Board
I could come up with decent answers to most of these that satisfy my threshold of internal consistency. > Is magic good or bad when used by Immortals? Neutral. It's the mortal realm where bad things happen when magic is used. > If it's alright, then why are so many ragers sore about Twist the god of magic? Because Twist is the patron of people who're dedicated toby Isildur - Main Board
QuoteJava I had a couple fights where the lag happened 2 or 3 times in succession, and it looks unbeatable. Then I had some where it would go 10-12 times in a row with nothing but a little bit of damage. Is it possible this wasn't just RNG and there was some set of circumstances that made it great in one situation and crappy in another? Honest question; not trying to imply anything.by Isildur - Char Board
Not sure I ever had a fight last that long as a thug. Unless it was me cheapshot-spamming someone. Either it was them doing nothing but try to leave the fight after the initial backstab, or it was them whipping my ass and me having to leave.by Isildur - Log Board
It's internally consistent, but lacks a basis in reality. You either take it as a matter of faith that "magic is bad m'kay", or you ignore all the people using magic who aren't corrupted by it.by Isildur - Main Board

Had I known that, never would have taken the one I took on both my assassins. Bleh. If you want to maximize offense, how about whip or flail?by Isildur - Main Board

Near as I can tell "kuhara" is "hole" in Sanskrit and "kuharin" is "having holes". Which fits nicely with the back story of the sunken city.by Isildur - Main Board
Bear in mind that role-play still exists, and individual deities may do nasty things to you if you try to kill their followers in the shrine.by Isildur - Main Board
