Fortunately it's not a cage match and you can pretty much avoid any encounter too unfavorable. It forces you to engineer more or less clever solutions to your problems, whether that's simply ganking at the right moment or doing something more complex.

Though I more appreciate imbalance that stems from use of the system (super charged a-p, lich, imba build) as implemented rather than the handing down of advantage directly from immortals, the latter isn't a deal breaker for me. I think it's okay for some characters to have artificial advantages.
