I've only played one to hero (or near-hero; I don't think I got all the way there) but I found it kind of frustrating. I never got the hang of the fact that all your attacks are area instead of targeted. Like I'd be fighting a guy and he'd flee, and I'd reflexively move in that direction and sing some attack song. Except he was already gone. With a targetted skill/spell/commune you're only minimally penalized for "missing".

Also the "sleep/sing up/kill" experience left me wanting. You might kill them, but unless you're primarily attacking ragers or you have something like manacles in most cases they'll die somewhere else.
